Hi guys! Has anyone heard anything from New York or Long Island? I am anxiously awaiting my interview - I have the EAD but we didn't apply for AP so I can't leave until I have the GC in hand. I have to be back home by October and if I'm not I'll be devastated. I came in on a travel visa so I doubt they'd waive the visa. My status has been saying 'Read for Interview' since May. Any help much appreciated.

There's still time to apply for the AP, you don't need to pay for it, just send a copy of your i485 receipt with it. That way if the interview takes longer than October, you'll probably have the AP to go with. the official waiting times for the offices you mentioned are around 6 months, you may be lucky but in my opinion it's always better to not rely on that.

Good luck!

As per the USCIS website, NYC office as of 31 May 2016 was processing 05 October 2015 cases. So our turn for interviews will probably be in December. Long Island office seems to be a month behind.

I didn't file for AP at first either, but I eventually did, just in case this wait gets too long, to be able to travel during Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays.

It's in fact 8-9 months :'(

There is no official timeline for AP processing (unlike EAD), it takes 3 months for the most people as they apply together with EAD and get the combo card. I'm hoping that as I've done the fingerprints and background check and case is ready to be scheduled for an interview (i.e. no RFIEs), it will be faster.

Have you tried calling the USCIS?

My I-485 case was stuck on "RFE sent" from April 29, not even an update on the received RFE response. I called on July 27, so after 3 months. The officer said I couldn't submit a service request because apparently the case was still within the normal processing frame at my local USCIS office and that I should expect at least another 3 months of processing. HOWEVER on August 3rd my case randomly updated to "Case approved" and "Card being produced" so it might have worked ? Worth a try :)

I called 2 weeks ago my case did get transferred to a local office for processing since NBC is super busy but tier 2 said my case hasn't been said looked into great detail to determine a RFE or "ready to be scheduled for an interview" or anything... He did say the fact it got transferred to a local office is progress even tho they haven't even cracked my case open yet... My case status hasn't even reflect a transfer took place nor have I received a letter informing me of the transfer Edited by Moslund

I got a learners permit I had the option to go for he full license cause I already had a british driver license... Virginia is different of your over 21 you can skip the learners permit and just apply for the full license... I went for the learners permit cause I haven't driven in 6 years and wanted the practice... Also in Virginia once you get a learns permit you must hold it for 60days before you sit your test... You can either 1 do a driving course or 2 have an insured driver drive with you and sign off on a sheet after the 60days to say your ready to do the driving test... My husband or mother in law sits in the car while I drive

So I spoke to our lawyer and we're going to go ahead and apply for AP. On the I-131 it states 'on a separate sheet of paper explain how you qualify for Advanced Parole and what circumstances warrant issuance of advance parole'. Did you guys include this? What types of things did you put. I want to go home for a wedding so I don't know what explanation or information they want...

Yes, no need to attach anything or to put in dates etc. If you look at the bottom of one of the pages (page 2 perhaps), it says that if you file for AP as a part of AOS you need to skip forward to part 7 or something like that.

I also missed that note so I was freaking out, but VJ came to rescue
