Didn't realize you had to ask and it's interesting how we all know about the stamp but nobody asks. my wife and I were talking and we were like it's just that when they say it's approved you don't want to be any trouble so you just say okay thanks goodbye before they decide to change their minds lol

SIGH.

Once you think things are going well....

So our EAD status changed to "has been mailed to me". Yay. BUT.... last night we got an RFE for the green card. RFE for the medical exam and vaccination forms, which they already actually have or he is exempted from. I-485 instructions say if you're a K1 and had a medical in the past year, don't need a full medical with I-485. Ok. then you go to the vaccination supplement and IT says that if you had a DS 3025 properly filled out and submitted (he did) that you don't have to provide that. I'm super annoyed.

I just found out that my insurance would cover him getting all the vaccines again (third time getting childhood vaccines) and there is a civil surgeon who will transcribe them for cheap (and she is more outraged than I am at this issue and refuses to perform a new physical until we exhaust all routes getting a copy of what was already done, and knows that she shouldn't even have to transcribe which is why she does it so cheap), but christ alive! What is up with these people?

I'm not sure if it's incompetence or retaliation for putting in a service request, which is just so sad (are my government representatives less aware of how to do their jobs than I am, or are they wielding their considerable power over me out of spite).

Omg I'm so sorry! ? I think I would cry!!! I didn't get my husband on my insurance when we got married because they wouldn't let me do it without a social security number for him. I unfortunately didn't realize he should have gotten it before the I-94 expired either.

I hope the same RFE isn't coming my way too...

Good luck and keep us updated.

Not at all.

After the oath, he asked for my passport and he asked my husband:

- What is your full name?

- Date of birth?

- Where do you work? And what do you do?

- What is your address?

- What is her full name?

- What is her date of birth?

- How, when and where did you propose her?

- When and where did you get married?

Then for me:

- What is your full name?

- Date of birth?

- What is your address again?

- What is his full name?

- What is his date of birth?

- Do you have any additional document?

So I showed 2 photo albums, and he just asked why we chose get married in Las Vegas.

Then he said that by the way we talk and by the pictures he was going to go ahead and approve my Green Card because for sure we have a real relationship.

Then he explained that it expires in 2 years and we should fill the form I-751 in 2 years.

That is all :)

✌️Thanks a lot for sharing. And good luck, wish you guys the best ☺️

SAD!..... Today I received rfe on my i-485 stating that because we filed after 3 years of marriage uscis need additional evidence of our marriage like joint bills and accounts which we do not have because we stay with my in-laws so electric bills, gas and home phone all named after our in laws of course. Cannot get bank account because need ssn which I do not have yet ( It was too late back then to get my ssn we didn't know we can if i-94 isn't expired) cant put me on his insurance also because it needs ssn.. Guys help us what we need to do.. Thanks once again for all your help

BTW, th reason we were late is bacause when I arrive here back in july2013.. We got married September then, a week after that we were gathering all papers for our aos then something happened, my husband got laid off so it was postponed, right after when he was about to get a job in February 2014 he had an accident playing basketball. His achilles broke, which made him unable to walk for more than a year. So all the more it was postponed just had his job on March 2015, and at that time we were saving for my aos little amount until we made the $1070 because we still have to pay other bills. Our bills got piled up specially in hospitals over that 1 year of being not able to walk. Hedid not get Medicaid fearful that if he does it will affect on my aos application letter. we didn't know.. But anyway that was all history now. We need your help guys. anyone have same experience as ours or know about it?

You don't need an SSN to open a bank account some banks tell you it's mandatory that is not true... They will also accept an ITIN which I'm assuming you have so you can file taxes??? You can use ITIN to open any financial account it's by law can be used instead of a SSN for financial reason only like opening bank accounts and filing taxes... Some bank don't require an SSN or ITIN to open an account you just need to do your research on which banks Ned it or not... If you don't have an SSN open an account at a bank that does require an SSN to atleast have something in both your names... The insurance I'm confused by that cause my husband out me on his insurance a week after I entered the country in February 2010 and I didn't get my ITIN til 2011 and my SSN until few weeks ago... I just put on a sad story to my insurance saying I'm going through immigration progress and am unable to provide a SSN at this point and they put me on his insurance no questions asked.... Your situation has got me concerned although we have lived on our own before only his name was on he lease but we moved back to his parents 2yeara ago so we can save to buy a house so all utilities are under my in laws name and we only submitted our joint account... Even tho I'm on the insurance we didn't submit proof that I'm on his insurance and 6 and half years has passed since I entered so I'm concerned I will get that letter... On the flip side we did have a child together in dec 2013 so I think if anything that may be our saving grace as proof of relationship if the bank account won't stand on its own Edited by Moslund

Hrm. We got him on my insurance basically immediately, no SSN either. We just had to explain the situation to HR (I think? Or was it the insurance folks?). Maybe try again?

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

09 Sep 2015: Consulate received :dancing: (32 days from NOA2)

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

02 Oct 2015: Work emergency clears up, interview scheduled (soonest available was 5 business days away--Columbus Day was in there)

13 Oct 2015: Interview
