For those who are start a SR for EAD here is my experience.

I putted a request online, where I explained that my EAD was approaching day 90 (I filled the SR on day 80), I also explained that I had an EAD-OPT before which expired mid-may and that my employer was waiting on my new EAD to get me back to work. I said I didn't know for how long more they were able to keep my position, and gave some other details about it. Few days later I called USCIS and ask to talk to tier 2. They called me back and the very nice representative told me most EADs were delayed. I explained all again to him, and he said there's was nothing he could to at that moment but to put a service request. When he saw that I have already done it online, he said he could not do it again. I then asked if there was any difference between doing it over the phone or online, and he said that in my case online was much better, he said he was reading my SR and that he would probably not have described my situation and needs in a better way than how I did online. So I guess is better when you do a service request yourself online. I believe a lot of times the representatives open a request and don't really explain in details your situation. No one better than yourself to do it.

I am not sure if my online SR truly helped my or not. But the fact is that few days later my status changed to "card being produced" on i-765. 8 days after service request online and 88 days after application received.

I still have no word on travel parole or interview. But honestly EAD was all I was waiting for...

Thank you for sharing your experience FlaviaJ. Have you heard from USCIS is they sent out your card already? Appreciate to hear your update when you get your EAD card on the mail so that I can also check how mine goes coz we have similar timeline/card being produced scenario :), same here no work on travel parole or GC interview. Thanks you. :)

I just checked and still as "new card is being produced", no changes so far. However, although it says that they ordered my new card on July 2nd, I honestly think they actually only did it on July 5th lol. I checked my status online the night of 4th of July and nothing! I don't believe anyone was working on July 2nd (holiday weekend) to approve my EAD. With that said, imagining that my card was just really ordered this past Tuesday, I am expecting it to be shipped by sometime next week. HOPEFULLY because I need to get back on my company's payroll before the 15th! lol

Still patiently waiting for any update on the GC since my RFIE was delivered back a month ago, hoping to hear something soon. On a positive note, my wife and I went to Costa Rica for a few days, got back today, and AP worked with no issues, which gave me a small pleasure :)

Likewise, hopefully it gets shipped next week because I need it also on the 15th LOL. Im really hoping that we will not be one of those who will wait longer than 15 days as many were having issues receiving the EAD card. lol Patience......

Hi all,

Just wanted to share about my experience with the DMV in California.

I went to the DMV to take the written test today. Thanks to one of our fellow post about her/his experience at Texas DMV, I came prepare!

My I-94 is expired, but they didn't accept my NOA (I-797C, notice of action) as a proof of lawful presence in the US. They showed me a pamphlet that says that it has to be the I-797A (approved AOS) or the EAD card. (the Texas DMV link didn't specify which I-797 though).

In California, they allow illegal to have a DL so I just applied for DL as an illegal (under AB-60). They told me that i will be able to change it after i get my EAD card or my GC card. It's not ideal situation but at least I will be able to drive while waiting for my EAD.

Yeah for Texas, I assumed it uses the NOA1 since it says "This can include but is not limited to a form I-797 indicating pending I-485 or pending application for adjustment of status.".

Our issue at the DMV is that the lady either thought the I-797 was approval for the GC, but I even explained and shows the Texas verifying lawful presence document list and she told us we can just fix it later. When we got the letter asking for the document proof, it wanted the GC (I-551) versus any of the I-797's. We'll be going in on Monday to get his DL since he has his GC now.

While some people get their DL's easy, I think it also depends on how knowledgeable the person behind the desk is.
