Guys I have a question, so I've been working with a lawyer and at the beginning he was kind of helpful. His legal assistant did most of the work in getting our documents together and sending it in and stuff. But he's just turned out to be such a flake. Not really answering my questions, when he does he only answers in one sentence. It just feels like he doesn't care about the case and has never reached out to ask me how I'm doing or anything. Even in submitting my RFE response, he didn't help at all and I had to do everything myself. The legal assistant who was helping us also ended up like leaving and they never told us about it.

Long story short, he's not helpful. I'm paying him a lot of money and I just feel like I'm not getting any support from him. Has anyone ever been in a situation with a crappy lawyer?

I paid for a lawyer also I primarily deal with his assistant she is very informative if she can't assist me or wants to double check something then my lawyer will call me... I think it's normal for there assistant/paralegal to prep the paperwork and everything that's who done mine he just went over it to make sure everything was where it should me... Have you tried talking to your lawyers assistant? When I need to talk to mine I usually get a returned phone call or email within 1hr and very promot with everything... She also sat in with the meetings we've had so she knows in ins and out of our case and our general concerns so Shes's very knowledgable to each cases concerns

The assistant that I was working with left and I wasn't even told that she was leaving so I dont really have a point of contact anymore. Your lawyer/paralegal sounds way more responsive than mine.

my lawyer and his assistant said average across the country is 7months from date recieved filing but each local office varies.. they told me my local office was currently processing times were a little faster pace than national average at that moment in time but didnt say how fast... after looking on AOS timelines for my local office within the past 6/7months people have been getting there GC roughly 3months from filing... but this time last year the avergae wait for 7-9months til approved... i'm calling next week to see where my EAD is at and im going ot inquire into my i-485 also and ask how the local office is doing with regaurds to porcessing since they can see it in real time i think

Have you filed for the ead and AP? You'll be able to work and travel when you receive them. Not necessarily need the gc.

If you take a look at the forum this thread is at, you can see there are people who filed in November 2015 receiving their gc now, there are people from May 2015, still waiting. It's unpredictable, unfortunately.

ConiMoni:

We are in the same situation with our K-2 visa for our son who followed 5 months after my wife entered. Having gone through the process for K-1, it went extremely fast and the USCIS.GOV site worked well in providing updates. I am annoyed at not getting updates on line this time.

I guess the good news this time is that time is not critical for us since it only prevents us from getting a Social Security number and being able to travel out of the country on short notice

Good Luck Coni Moni

Thank you for the update. I appreciate you taking out the time to share your experiences as well.

It is little extra efforts such as these that help fellow visa-journey members.

Will pray for your faster approvals. Good luck and god bless. :)

I am technically an April AOS filer since I got my NOA 1 on April 5. On June 10 I received sms and emails saying my case was approved and my new card was being produced. This morning I received another sms/email that my card was mailed to me! I am in Houston and I figured this was going to be a long process but I guess I just got lucky and my case was transfered and without interview my AOS was approved. :)

So far I never heard about my EAD/AP card, but I guess I won't need them once I have my green card in my hands.
