Hi, everybody!

I'm a J1 Visa holder currently frequenting a High school in Toledo, Ohio.

Here I met my girlfriend. We are in a relationship from 8 months and a half and we decided to build a future together.

I'm a brilliant student with straight As and I decided to consequently apply for college.

I got accepted, enrolled and I already got my I20 from the university.

But I, my girlfriend and her family started talking about marriage.

I totally agree with getting married as my girlfriend does and the family is very excited about the whole thing.

My J1 visa expires the 1st of June.

I have never been in trouble with the law, I have never broken any rules.

Here I have some questions?

Can I get some general information for the AOS as a J1 visa holder?
Should we involve a lawyer or an attorney?

How would my whole situation change? Would I still be able to frequent college for this whole year? (The year will start the 11th of August)

(In relation to that question: what would be my immediate status after the marriage?)

Should I just get the F-1 visa and start the process from there? (I wouldn't prefer this option)

I will Edit with some questions as the thread goes on.

Thank you so much for the help, it's deeply appreciated!

Study / Read the guide here http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

You might need a co-sponsor if your gf / future wife does not meet the poverty guideline.

Not sure about college issue, other people with experiences will chime in.

Done with K1, AOS and ROC
