Preparing for IMB RFE

Hi everyone, It's been very helpful to look through this forum for examples of how people dealt with RFEs for sites that were not IMBs. I met my fiance on a site that probably sounds like an IMB, but is not. I'm expecting I may receive an RFE about this, so I'm gathering evidence now. I was hoping to get people's thoughts on what to include since this is tricky in comparison with how IMBs are defined.

The site is called datebritishguys.com and they market themselves as being a site for women around the world (not just the US) to meet British men. I, an American woman, paid for "premium" use of the site, which basically allows you to send and read messages with members. My fiance, a British man, did not have to pay because the site allows British men to have full access for free. Everyone else, i.e. men and women of all other nationalities, have to pay for full access.

My fiance and I exchanged only a few messages on the site before moving onto Facebook and Skype. I never interacted with anyone from the site's admin, and neither did he.

The site sent me an email that states:

"Thank you for your email and congratulations on your wonderful news. We would be delighted to hear your story and see photos of your wedding day. We can confirm that Datebritishguys.com is an online dating agency, and not an International Marriage Broker. We take no fee when relationships are formed."

Of course I will send this email in my response, should I get an RFE. Does that seem like enough evidence in this case?
Their Terms & Conditions here aren't very helpful in this, the only statements that might be relevant are this "Your use of the service is striсtly at your own risk and you are solely, whether it be written, verbal or in person, with any other Member of the Service" (not even a complete sentence) and this "You will not use the Site, Services or your profile for any purpose other than to seek other persons for meeting, friendship or dating; the Service and profiles shall not be used for any commercial purpose whatsoever (including but not limited to escorts, commercial or non-dating solicitations, or otherwise)." Any thoughts on whether this would be worth including?
Thanks for your input all.

We met through datebritishguys.com too and have worried about getting an RFE for the same reason. The website's name could make it seem like an international marriage broker, even though it isn't. In the terms it does say:

"This web site is an internet information service that facilitates communication and contact between members who may or may not be seeking a relationship or a friendship. It is not a marriage brokering, matchmaking or mail order bride service. We are under no obligation to broker any other member or members for you and we do not communicate with other members on your behalf."

We are hoping that if the second and third sentences (underlined above) are highlighted within the full terms and conditions, that it will be enough. It very clearly states that the site only facilitates communication, nothing more. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Thanks! They actually updated the TOS after I contacted them, very helpful! I'll let you know if we get one, should be hearing soon I hope :)

Hey! to update you on this, we got approved with no RFE :dancing: . I did describe the site in our "circumstances of meeting," saying it was a dating site we both had read about in a BBC article, and that we briefly communicated via the site's chat service before moving to Facebook and Skype. I think it must have helped that I was so specific. So glad! Keep me posted on your progress.

Congratulations! That gives me hope that we won't have a RFE either. Unfortunately we have several weeks yet before our application will probably be reviewed. Best of luck moving forward and we will keep you posted!
