I posted this in the Visa Journey FB group a few days ago and forgot to post it here:

"Just arrived back home from a holiday in Dubai with my husband. He managed to enter the country with his EAD/AP combo card without any issue. Secondary screening took forever because for some reason the Boston airport was busy on a Thursday afternoon. Other than that, nothing outstanding to report."

I've also attached a photo of what the paroled passport stamp looks like. Hope this helps put some of your minds at ease!

Thanks, this is very helpful! Did you all have a connecting flight at the time? I want to know much time to factor in with connecting flights once returning back to the states.

Sept 9 2016: AOS mailed (485, 131, 765)

Sept 19th : Received at lockbox [Day 0]

Sept 27th : Text message notification from USCIS & Fingerprint Fee received [Day 8]

October 3rd : NOA1 hardcopy for all 3 forms [Day 14]

October 6th : Biometrics letter received [Day 17]

October 20th: Biometrics appointment completed [Day 31]

November 30th: Forms 131 and 765 approved [Day 72]

December 3rd: EAD/AP card received in mail [Day 75]

We did not have a connecting flight in the US--only in Doha. We specifically planned it that way because we didn't know how long it would take to clear customs. I actually wrote about both our AP and green card interview experience on my blog. Secondary screening took us several hours and I opted to stay with my husband during that period even though I was free to go (as the USC).

How long did the secondary screening take? I have a 4.5hrs to my connecting flight and I am wondering if that is enough at O'hare. I am traveling on AP and adjusting from F-1.

12/27/18 i-751 ROC mailed

12/31/18 USCIS received package (# starts with LIN)

01/30/19 18 month extensions received. Did not get any email/text even though I signed up for it

06/25/19 Biometrics completed in St.Paul MN

10/21/19 RFE received. Insufficient evidence.

10/24/19 RFE response delivered (per USPS).

Honestly, it took a very long time. I can't remember exactly as it's been almost a year now...but it took about 3 hours AFTER standing in line for over an hour.

Thanks for sharing!  I'm going back to visit China with my husband next month, and we have AP but no green card yet, so this is very helpful.  So from your blog post it sounds like they will allow a married couple to stay in line together, but whether that line will be the foreign one or the US one just depends on the airport?  That's a relief.  I was scared they would separate us, and I would be wondering for hours how things were going for him!

2/18/2016- Letter from NVC saying they're forwarding to Guangzhou

3/4/2016- Received P3, returned it about a week later

3/22/2016- P4 email

5/12/16- Interview. Approved!

5/16/16- After a few days saying administrative processing, CEAC now says issued!

Additional snafu: my fiancé came over on his visa, but just a month later (and the day before we were going to get married) he had an emergency that necessitated him returning to China.  I contacted the Guangzhou consulate via their email system, provided the requested documents/proof, and he was granted a second interview for "reissuance."  He had to re-do the medical, redo the interview (bringing yet another copy of all of the things he had to bring the first time) and we were approved again!  He received what looked like a new visa in his passport, but the original 90 day countdown for marriage was still ticking.  He came back to the US and we got married right away!

8/22/16- Married!

4/11/17- submitted online service request for case out of normal processing time (over 6 months)

5/2/17- USCIS website updated to "My card is being produced!"

5/10/17- Green Card received

9/2/20- Interview scheduled for next month!
