My wife applied for a social security card before her AOS interview. She got the ss card before her interview and it is stamped with "good only for work while ead is valid" well now she has her greencard. Should we go back into the ss office and get a new one that dosnt have any stamps on it? I want her to start establishing some credit and dont want some half ### ss card. im not sure if it even has any use towards credit with that stamp. will they give her a new card now that she has a green card? thanks...

It's not an obstacle to getting credit and, in fact, even if you did get the card without that text (which you can), her SS number would still be the same (i.e., the only difference would be that the card wouldn't have that text on it, everything else would be the same).

if we go back in, just cuz i want her to have a normal ss card with no stamps, will they give her a new one now that she has a 2 yr green card? or would it just be stamped again cuz her green card is only for 2 years? thanks for your response.

hi

even if she has a 2 year GC, she is still a legal permanent resident

with the EAD, you only get a temporary card until one becomes a LPR, so now she can go back and change the card

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."
