So I think the Kathmandu consular office is not that organized perhaps as when my fiance showed up they asked "why she didn't come the 23rd of Feb when her appointment was?" We had asked for an earlier appointment but the email with the appointment letter and the follow up letter said that they couldn't do it earlier than the 25th when our appointment was on the email ;) I had hoped to take her home with me when I came back the 2nd of March but I guess it wasn't God's will.

As reported by others the Nepali staff were a bit unfriendly at first but warmed up later after asking a supervisor about the taxes apparently.. ( I did have 1099's for three years and a letter from our CEO stating that my earnings were in line with previous years.)

The consular officer was great and friendly.

We didn't need actual letters of intent ( I sent photo copies), 2014 taxes ( I sent 2013) and they didn't really look at any pictures, proofs etc. Didn't have any letters from the bank but did send about 6 months truncated statements.

She had some originals and the consular staff said they prefer copies of police reports, birth certs etc.

When the officer asked if she would prefer English or Nepali she said Nepali ( speaks flawless English) thinking that he wouldn't ask as many questions perhaps.. She was right.

Visa approved and pick up in 3 days.

They asked if she knew my phone number ( she didn't but had my business card with her) and if she knew my address, when we met first and that was it.... Visa approved!

After 5 months I have learned to just chill.... Hard lesson but I did make two trips for about 3 weeks each during that time and the last 3 weeks ago. The guides help you prep for any eventuality and are excellent but most of the things were not required at least at our consulate in Nepal other than those specified by the government. Apparently they rarely look at the pages and pages of pictures, facebook, whatsapp etc. proofs according to the others here we corresponded with.

At this point we are just looking forward to being together, meeting my family for three days and then a religious wedding and.....married life.

Love this site, haven't always agreed with the people here but it has been helpful and I have recommended it to others.

Best Wishes To All!
