Please show me a verse in the Bible that says it's OK to beat your wife.

i think, in this country, there are plenty of liberal christians who are quite used to accepting the violent and ignorant past of humanity as displayed in the bible so it's sort of easy to do the same for other religion's holy books. they know they're not going to assume they can take virgins as sex slaves after slaughtering their enemies because it's clearly permissible in the old testament. some how they can dismiss the antiquated as just 'how things used to be' and move forward under the guidance of the 'living god' as displayed in the new testament - using the bible as a tool but more so their own spirituality and personal relationship with god. --these types of christians (the thinking semi-rational kind) completely get how those who practice islam in this country aren't bound to the violent and ignorant verses in the koran anymore than they are bound to the old testament. see how that works?
