I don't know any French- my fiancé knows a little from school- we did fine in Montreal. Almost everyone knew how to speak English and the restaurants had menus in both languages!

In most places in Montreal and parts of Quebec even if you try to speak French to them they'll often reply in English. How dare us Anglos insult the language ?

As with everyone else who had planned on a Vancouver interview, this does suck.
Coming from a small town on Vancouver Island to Vancouver was a headache logistically, with the timing of the medical, hotels in Surrey, hotels downtown, then the interview.
So my question is....What days are the interviews offered in Montreal for the K1?

I had read only on Wednesday, but by seeing some of the other posts, it appears that is wrong.

As well, how do people plan on going about with the planning? Surrey, the results are back at the end of the next day, where in Montreal, you have to wait 3 or 4 business days.

Would love to know people's thoughts, and how they look at doing both the medical and the interview, factoring in logistics, time, expense.

I think the interviews are offered Monday to Friday, but only in the morning. And the medical takes around 3-4 business days to get in Montreal. This is just based off posts I've found around VisaJourney so I could 100% be wrong or the information outdated.

As someone who lives in Saskatchewan, it was a pain either way.. but Vancouver was a better choice for us financially. I now plan to go to Vancouver for the medical about two to three weeks before the medical, stay one night, fly home.. and then fly out to Montreal. My fiance will be driving from Boston for the interview (hopefully) so we won't need to use the bus or rent a car.

I feel your pain having to come from Saskatchewan, and having to go to two different locations, MILES apart.

Have you received your NOA2 yet, or are you just looking ahead?

I was thinking the exact same thing as you, get the medical 2/3 weeks earlier, instead of one big trip.........unless I can get a Thursday or Friday interview, then it would be
Day 1 - Travel to Surrey - Overnight
Day 2 - Medical
Day 3 - Pick up medical - Go to airport and redeye it to Montreal
Day 4 - Sleep and relax

Day 5 - Interview - Redeye it home to Vancouver Island

I've just been looking ahead! Although hopefully the NAO2 will be coming this week (fingers crossed!). The one trip sounds manageable and definitely would shorten time off from work!

That is part of the equation huh. Time off work.

The expense isn't enough,
The heartache and headache isn't enough.
The costs involved, then two trips with time off, or a week off work.

How much of the documentation do you have already?

I have pretty much everything, except the time sensitive things....letter of intent....photos

I pretty much have everything we need, minus the updated letter of intent and more passport photos. I think we need.. what? 6 or 8? of them? We've been preparing this for a while and I'm the type to plan way ahead!

I really hope things all work out for everyone. And that it doesn't slow down too much with everything being in Montreal.

Has anyone actually been sent to Montreal that was originally expecting to go to Vancouver yet? We just got our NVC case # and I asked about which consulate and was told it was being sent to Vancouver. The case # even has letters in it that make me believe it's going to Vancouver.

People have in the past.

https://ca.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee/

Effective April 1, 2016, U.S. Consulate General Vancouver is no longer processing new fiancé(e) (K) visa applications. U.S. Consulate General Montreal will be the interview location for all fiancé(e) visas in Canada. This change applies to all fiancé(e) visa petitions received at the National Visa Center after March 31, 2016. U.S. Consulate General Vancouver will continue to process fiancé(e) visa applications and conduct interviews for petitions they received prior to that date.

So if the NVC recieved your case BEFORE 03/21/2016, then you can still interview in Vancouver. Otherwise they may reroute you to Montreal.

I was aware of the March 31st cutoff which was why I was surprised when she said Vancouver (they received it April 4th). I was hoping maybe there was some kind of buffer period, but I'm guessing it's more likely that the NVC hasn't updated their systems yet, and that it will end up getting rerouted from Vancouver to Montreal. It's bad enough we have to go to Montreal instead, but now this will likely add additional time for the reroute. Bummer.

I actually am American! My fiancé is Canadian, but he's clearly rubbed off on me. I also worked at an Outback Steakhouse for 3 years and forever have "no worries, just right" burned into my brain. :)
