When my husband and I got married in 2003 I had many friends. After we got married, 1 person I considered to be my best friend and 2 other friends started acting weird towards me. They didn't want to hang out with me as much and treated me different. My husband is totally likeable ((I know I'm biased)) and I could tell they really liked him, so I don't think it was him. The last time I saw these 3 people was the day after Christmas 2005. I had just been given a 2 carat diamond ring from my husband and that was ALL they wanted to talk about. It sort-of hurt my feelings because we hadn't seen each other in a while and I had hoped we'd be able to focus on other things. I had a weird feeling when we parted that day and I have not heard from any of them since. :(

Would you e-mail the girl who was the best friend and ask what the problem is, or should I just let it go?

Me... personally, I'd let it go... I think friendships take both people involved... they don't want to keep in touch... see ya.

But that might not be the best course for YOU. I'm more of a solitary figure anyway... having one main person in my life... usually a best friend, or a girl friend... and soon a wife. I'll have friends... more like assosicates I guess you could say...

How it Started

2001 to Feb 2002 - Met online, were acquintances

Mar to Apr 2005 - Talked about finally giving in to our feelings and getting married

Aug 1 to Aug 7, 2005 - Fifth US Visit - Engaged

Time for the Visa

Dec 8, 2005 - Finally mailed Packet

Dec 20, 2005 - NOA1 Notice Date

Dec 27, 2005 - NOA1 Rcv'd in Mail

Mar 10, 2006 - NOA2 Approved

Mar 23, 2006 - NVC Received Packet

Mar 24, 2006 - Case Forwarded to London Embassy

Apr 7, 2006 - Recieved Packet 3

May 11, 2006 - Packet 3 Sent Back

May 24, 2006 - Medical Appointment

May 24, 2006 - Packet 4 Received

Jun 14, 2006 - Interview - APPROVED!!!!!!!

Jun 16, 2006 - Visa Recieved

I agree. Let them know you miss and need them and see if they are there for you.

As I always say: You will know who your friends are when you need them.

I personally would ask once. It is better to have things out in the open. It is possible that she does not realize that things have changed. Be cautious not to sound accusational, but clearly explain how you feel.

I also think it is very common for friends to sometimes act a little different after you get married...let them know you are the same YOU and that you don't expect marriage to change your friendship.

Email is sort of strange -- a phone call is more personal, I think.

if it were me, i would email them and tell them how you feel. a real friend will understand and work with you. otherwise .....

but sometimes you have to let people go. i've had to part ways with a handfull of my friends because of my sister (too sorid to go into). i was no longer comfortable around them, and thouth they still like me and i still like them, we don't hang out. it hurts, but it happens :(

i hope you can straighten everything out with your friends. maybe if you're the first in the "group" to get married, they feel weird because they think you'll be different. i don't know ... but communication is always best.

Same thing happened to me after i got engaged. One of my best friends was soo awful to me during our last semester in college that after graduation, i completely ingored all phone calls and emails from her.

Not to make myself sound high and mighty, but i truely think she was jealous.....i was 21, found someone that i wanted to spend the rest of my life with and she was 27 with a 9 year old, no serious relationships, and had no idea what to do about it.......

jealousy can bring out the ugly in people, which might be the same thing in your case as well. If they are true friends they will come around, but, if not....do what i did and just cut them out of your life.

I aint cool enough for a signature.....

If you really miss this person being in your life, then I would definitely try to renew the friendship. Could you just call her up and have a normal conversation and just tell her how much you miss the friendship you used to have and see what happens?

I know I miss a lot of my friends that I had before I met my husband, but they are all "chickens" and won't drive down to the US to see me, so I only see them when I go up to Canada.

Good luck.

I would deffinately voice my feelings to my friends about it. It never hurts to be honest about how you feel. If they are real friends they will listen and respond positivly, if not, then you will know your answer shortly.

Remember, friends come and go, your family will always be there, if they are no longer who you think they were, you have your husband and thats what important :)

Hugs,

Tara

If it was my BEST FRIEND, then I would give her a call or email her.

She may just think she needs to give you sometime to adjust to being married.

If she really is a good friend then she will be glad to hear from you.

One of my girlfriends from home is like that. She gets busy, and I will be busy, but when ever we call each other its always filled with special memories. We both know that just because we dont talk as much anymore casue I am here, doesnt mean we dont love one another like we have for 15 years. True friends will always be there for you. Could be weeks or even a month that goes by with out us talking on the phone. That doesnt mean we dont like or care for each other anymore. Just means were both busy with things. When we do get on the phone we both know that our friendship will last a life time, and the phone call usually last for hours........ Just casue someone dont call or email all the time doesnt mean that she has forgotten about ya.

I SAY CALL HER IF SHE REALLY MEANS SOMETHING TO YOU (F)
