Hello all,

I've searched around for a bit and I'm not finding an answer specific to my query. I received an RFE in response to my I-751 application, requesting extra financial documents. We have prepared them and plan to mail them tomorrow, so USCIS should have them early next week (3-28 or 3-29).

Our issue is we were planning on a trip back to England at the end of May to visit my family and friends for around 10 days. I know that I am still eligible to travel, but we are considering cancelling the trip in the case that USCIS requests an interview. We definitely don't want to have our application ruined by being outside of the US during this time. So my questions are two-fold:

1) It seems RFE's don't take too long to process, though it will take at least 2-3 weeks minimum. If an interview is requested, how far out do they tend to be? For example, if our RFE was processed by April 14th 2016 - but they want an interview, would it likely be scheduled before May 20th? Or is it usually a case that the interview is scheduled quite far out?

2) Are the interview dates as inflexible as we imagine they would be? My thinking is that they won't want any sort of rescheduling on this and I definitely don't want to rock the boat due to the importance of the application.

Thank you in advance for any responses or guidance you are able to give.

If your date turns out right, your case will be reviewed/touched and have a decision by April 18th (I counted 14 business days). If approved, you have to wait 8-10 business days for your 10yr GC.

According to the letter (NOA) we've got after approval, applicant should not travel outside USA before receiving the new card as he/she may have difficulty reentering the USA. If emergency arises, you may make an appointment at your local USCIS office to request a stamp in your passportthat shows temporary evidence of status as LPR. Please be aware that whether a stamp is issued, is determined on a case-by-case basis by field office management. Also, Permanent Resident Card should be received within 60 days.

As per USCIS Case status we have now, I can still track where my wife's GC via USPS and should receive either today or tomorrow.

For the interview, that's the worst case scenario. So, make extra effort for the RFE documents you're about to submit. Good luck :dancing:
