Hello all,

I am trying to bring my parents here from Venezuela. We are very close, as we already have a date for the interview at the US Embassy in Caracas for next month. There are a few things I am worried about, and would love the help of the group here.

1. The Interview Letter (P4) from the NVC show an "A" code for my father's birth certificate, meaning "Obtain the original or a certified copy of this document and present it at your interview". My father doesn't have a birth certificate and has never had one. This caused a delay for him to get his interview day after submitting the application packet. The NVC finally accepted the application after we sent a notarized sworn affidavit from my paternal grandmother saying when my father was born and that she is his mother. We also followed the Venezuelan Reciprocity Schedule from the travel.state.gov web site and applied for Datos Filiatorios, which contains certified identifying information, which we also sent to the NVC. After submitting those documents in lieu of the birth certificate, the NVC send my father's case to the US Embassy in Caracas to schedule the interview. My question is this:

Will the Datos Filiatorios and sworn affidavit from my grandmother be enough at the Immigration Visa Interview? If not, what more can we do?

2. The Interview Letter (P4) from the NVC shows a "Y" document status for Financial Evidence, meaning that the NVC sent this form to the U.S. Embassy in Caracas. However, the U.S. Embassy instructions form for Caracas states that the applicant must present Form I-864 from the petitioner.

Do my parents need to take a copy of the forms I-864 and I-864a or any other financial info. that I sent to the NVC?

3. We misspelled my father's surname on the DS-260 application. (Long story) We have sent emails to AskNVC to clear up this mistake, but they still have not made the change as the name is still wrong on the Interview Letter.

Should we bring this to the attention of the U.S. Embassy before we go in for the interview?

Thank you for your help with this matter. We feel like we are soooo close after a lot of work and getting denied at the interview would be a major setback. My parents will have to fly to Caracas and they are nervous about traveling as they have never been in a plane before, so if we mess up the interview I'm worried they may not be willing to make the trip again.
