Hi,

Should the online case status change when they send you an RFE for i485?

I got an RFE a few weeks ago (I still think its a mistake, as they say they have lost my medical) - however, my case status is still set to "6th Jan ready for interview scheduling"

Could it be the RFE was sent to me by mistake? It just seems odd that the case status didnt update too? Should it have?

Thanks

If all information about your case is correct in the RFE letter (case #, name, Alien # and etc.), I don't think it has been sent to you by mistake. Unfortunately, they are losing things. It happens. Or some documents can be misplaced..

I had never seen any updates either. The only update I had ever had was that they accepted my biometric. That's it. For 15 months. Status was changed only after receiving a green card. But before this - NOTHING. Not when I got RFE (also medical) , neither when I submitted this and they received.

Dam. Thanks. Its also very odd as the field office is in Long Island but I am in NJ.. .Strange. I guess they maybe did lose my medical and I have to redo it.

I'm in Missouri, but my case got approved in Florida ;)

They have been backlogged in the past year, so to help process the cases faster, they started sending cases to other USCIS offices to help review the case.

After the Long Island office reviews the documents you submitted and are satisfied with the documents, your green card should be automatically issued. Although, they still can send it to your local office if they determine you need to be called for an interview. But most likely, the Long Island office will make a decision.

Whats irritating is that they sent me the RFE that they dont have a medical file for me. I sent back asking them to confirm this as I didnt want to go ahead and book one. No response yet. My deadline is coming up in under a month so im going to have to book a full medical next week and send it off.

The place I want to go says they will send it off for me and I get a copy of the i693. I guess I will send them back the copy..

They won't respond. RFE has been issued and the only thing they are expecting from you is to comply with this.

It's strange the medical place is not able to give you the I-693 right after medical exam...

You have to send the original I-693, in the sealed envelope. Not the copy of this.

Here is the instruction how to submit the I-693.

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-693instr.pdf

Read very careful - if USCIS is not satisfied with your response to RFE, it can be a reason for denial of your I-485.

If i remdmber correctly you dont have to do the full medical if its been less than a year that you did it abroad for your k1, and they would only need vaccinations.... i would call them or infopass to make sure what they mean before you spend a lot of money

Thanks. The RFE actually request both medical and Vaccinations. I think they have lost my entire medical which means even if Its still within 1 year, I still have to do it again as they have lost the actual results.

I called USCIS and they cant help me. I cant call field office so I dont really have a choice but to take another whole medical before deadline

hhmmmm. Thanks. Maybe I will have to tell the civil surgeon to send the sealed results to the field office where my RFE tells me to send the evidence to.

No. Don't leave it to anybody else to mess up. They are instructed to seal it and give to you to mail. You review the copy they give you and make sure everything is filled in, signed. All the shots are filled in and the proper waivers marked. If in doubt ask them and get it corrected.

Mail it with the RFE LETTER (required) and mail it with the signed confirmation of delivery that will come back to you. Then you are positive it is received and have proof.

Submitting the I-485 you really don't have to do the full medical if it's been less than a year that you did it abroad for your k1. The Form DS-3025 should be enough.

You can call, of course, or Infopass, but they won't "cancel" the RFE :) Only an officer (adjuster) determines that the applicant has met the burden of proof required to establish that he or she is free from a medical condition. Or not.

Since RFE for a new medical was issued, there are not any other options, but to re-do your medical.

That was my confusion. I guess I have no choice but to redo... Im going to book one for next tuesday. Starting cost is 150, then TB test and blood work will add more.

I should be furious with this but my fear of getting i 485 denied is not allowing me room to be angry at the moment :)

Hurry up :) If your medical place does QuantiFeron TB test (a lot of places started doing this kind of TB test), it takes about 10 days to get results.

My appointment is the 29th. I will do whatever blood work, TB test I need to do then and even 10 days from then is the 10th april, still with 10 days spare lol. This could be very tight, taking into account, delays and mailing the results.

Just mail USPS Priority 2-day and pay extra to send it certified so they have to sign upon receipt.
