I-485, Lost I-94 and Passport with Visa

Hello everyone,

My dad just applied for I-485, but he lost i-94 and passport months after he entered legally. Now that we filed for I-485, we also filed I-102 to get I-94. He received a letter saying that they need more evidence, form I-512 with completed arrival stamp, or copy of nonimmigrant visa page of passport showing admission to the United States. He doesn't have the passport or i-94. What evidence should he send so he can proof that he came legally? He sent his plane ticket as evidence that he entered legally, but i guess that wasn't enough. Now i do not know what to do to help him. i thought it would be easy for them to find his i-94 number.

It's not "them" that needs to find the I-94. It's your dad's responsibility to show that he entered legally. A plane ticket doesn't show that.

Get the replacement I-94 and also submit a copy of the police report regarding the lost passport along with a copy of the bio page from the replacement passport.

It may take longer to obtain a copy of his I-94 than he is allowed for his RFE; in that case his I-485 would likely be denied, and once he has his I-94 he would be able to re-file his I-485.
