Hi,

Could somebody tell me what do I (Petitioner) need to write for following items pertaining to A number? I am a US citizen thru naturalization so I have Alien Registration Number.

1) Form I-129f - Step 8b for the myself? Is it the Alien Registration number?

2) Form G-325a - File number which starts with "A" on the top of the form?

3) Form G-325a - Alien Registration Number at the bottom?

Are 2 and 3 the same thing (Alien Registration number)?

Thanks in advance.

You will just put "none". The applicant will receive that number later down the road. But for the first forms "none" is sufficient.

btw, check out the example forms http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;page=examples They really help out with questions like that :D

good luck!

Thanks Karoline for your immediate response. Sorry for not putting the question clearly before, What I wanted to know is what should I write for my information in those forms. I understand that for my foreign fiance it should be none but for me the petitioner what do I need to write at those places.

Your last question is why I edited my last post.

I originally had answered that you should use your A# (from before you became a US citizen). But, then, after thinking about it, I realized that US citizens (the petitioner) do not need to provide A#'s.

So, for you, I believe you would put "none" as well.

Thanks for your answer. So I need to write "none" as I am a US citizen now. However, I am still confused as why would they have that question in the form if the petitioner is obviously a US citizen otherwise he cannot file for finace visa. This is what bothered me before I asked the question in this thread and I came to conclusion that it might be because if a US citizen is born here and hence does not have A number they can write none but a US citizen by naturalization should write the A number from before. May be thats why the question says "A number (if any)"

What do you think abt it? I just want to make sure that I don't get RFE. I hope u understand.

Thanks all for the help. I could not have done this on my own without all the wonderful people on this website.

I don't know the answer to whether you should write your former A# but...as far as the last question. This form is used by both the petitioner and benificiary. So it has to have room for both to enter in appropriate information. Also, it is possible to petition for some family visa's while a Legal Permanent Resident. They would have an A# as they are not naturalized.

Not every line will apply to every filer, for example, I had no use for the option where I could choose "male" as my gender...lol.

Good Luck

I have a very much same situation as your, halcut. I have exactly those 3 questions, but still see no specific and clear answers after spending 2 hours or so searching. Wonder why USCIS doesn't provide the answers for it confusing forms to save its time and people's time.

The difference between us is I don't have Alien Registration Number, but I have I.N.S Registration Number with an "A" followed by 8 numbers (digits). I guess they are the same, but not very sure. It worsens my situation by besides this "I.N.S Registration No." (exactly like that) appears on my Certification of Naturalization, another 2 numbers also printed on it. One with "No." followed by 8 numbers, and the other called "Petition No." with 5 numbers. All these 3 numbers located at the top portion of the Certificate.

I am a very new member here, and hope you (since you went through it), or anybody can help by confirming all those numbers have anything to do with your good 3 questions.

Thanks all in advance.

I don't know how others did their. I have included my A number on both forms I129F and my G325A. When I recieved mine NOA1/2 the A no. is listed on both forms. I left it blank on my Fiancee's G325A. My fiancee received her visa on Apr 6,07.

SP,

You have an A#, give it when asked for it. The fact that you have become a US citizen does not erase your A# or cause your immigration file to be tossed.
