Name change after sending i-130 petition

I have heard that the name the visa will be in is what is on the passport. We submitted her petition in her married name but she is thinking about dropping her second middle name. She is renewing her passport this month. Will this cause problems with the interview? Or any point during the process?

They won't check what we applied in, what we say in the DS 260 and her passport? I assume we have to bring both passports.

Don't overthink this, dropping a second middle name will not be an issue. When the DS-260 is completed, it will need to be listed under the other names used section.

I'm sure I'm over thinking it and of course her family is telling her different. That they petition is the application. Which it isn't and makes her worry about the interview.

So we will have 3 names. Her current name and the 2 previous (one from the petition and the maiden)

After doing more research, it seems that the petition isn't even used in the app part. Just the AOS. And we fill out the form with whatever name she puts on the passport. 4 names or 3 names. As long as they appear on the marriage cert. Maybe send a note that we dropped the second middle name. And get a pcc in all 3 just in case.

Sending a note is completely unnecessary; obtain the PCC that reflects her CURRENT legal name and give no thought to having dropped one middle name (this is what the "other names used" on the DS-260 is for).

To expand on what I posted previously, you don't need to obtain multiple police clearances reflecting different names, obtain one using the LEGAL name on the date that she seeks it from the applicable authority.

Ahh thanks. And for Honduras she has to use her ID card which we aren't changing because it takes too long. So it will be in maiden name I believe.
