Hi there,

I am new to VJ and really liked how helpful the forum is over here. I had some few specific questions about my case that I wanted to ask this community.

My fiance is a US citizen, and we are applying for my green card after getting married this summer. I am currently on an F1 visa and have one more year of school left. This is my second F1 visa (I'm pursuing my second masters degree in the US). On my previous F1 visa, I completed another masters degree here and then worked on OPT for one year. We are trying to file our case ourselves since lawyers are so expensive. My questions are:

1. Has anyone been in a similar situation with 2 F1 visas and an OPT? Are there any special considerations for the filing/interview that we need to be aware of as a result of this? I understand that I should file all of my I-20s from the first F1 visa as well as the OPT card as evidence.

2. After my first F1 visa, I went back home to India and had a legal name change (I have the affidavit/proof available). Then I came back with an updated passport and new F1 visa with the name changed. Anything that I need to submit in order to show this name change/any concerns regarding this?

3. As of 2016, is there a checklist of forms that we can look at to make sure we are filing everything? Right now we have I-130, I 485, Affidavit of support, I 765, G 325 (for both of us).

4. We also want to file advance parole, but it specifically asks for dates/purpose of travel and we have none. The instructions clearly say that it won't be accepted unless we have a clear purpose or something like that. What to do in this case? Can't we just file for the purpose of getting a a general travel permit?

5. Are there any attorneys you know of who do a review of your forms for you at a small fee, just to make sure we filled everything correctly? We are confused about some sections and also whether to leave non-applicable sections blank or write N/A/none, etc. It seems like the rules keep changing every few years.

Thank you!!!!

You should only need, at most, I-20s since you last entered. And if you didn't have that that would be fine too.

You will need to provide documentation of the legal name change

Nope. You do not need any reason or purpose. You can put "unknown" or "TBD" for the dates. It does not ask for any purpose or reason.
