The US shouldn't be relying on oil from Saudi. We know that. As long as we are, nothing will change. Several alternatives to oil if we made that a priority.

I dont contribute a nickel to demand of oil in the US either. So i'm probably the wrong one to talk to about this. It works this way: you guys send the money over which supports the kingdom, because you guys are buying and using the oil. I work here, make some of that money, and send it back as either cash (or taxes grrr) but none of it buys any component of that oil because Im not there to consume it. Its kind of messed up to link working here with either contributing to ME oil dependence or financial support. You do it and need to deal with it over there. I dont care where I work and do it just as cheerfully up in Alaska or out in some desolate corner of Texas as I do it over here.

Looks like kindergarden class!

Regarding Saudi Arabia. I am not really sure how much we need their oil these days. I do not think we cuddle up to them for oil any longer but rather for military reasons. I am not saying it is right but just giving reasons. I would love to see the Us speak out strongly against their actions and perhaps do more but it sure isn't going to happen now with everything else going on in the area.

BTW - The US gets most of the oil from Canada and we actually even export oil. Oil goes onto the global oil market and oil is very low priced and abundant right now.

What happened?

It's one more reason to look at alternative energy. People complain about the price of oil and gas, but there's also a human cost we tend to overlook.

But what would the rich oil execs do if we use alternative energy? The people who control the money are the real reasons we don't have other options, just like with health insurance and pharmaceuticals. The deep pockets don't want alternatives. Edited by Janelle2002

CNN have just been interviewing one of the victims, maybe the apologists should watch this a few times before coming up with their usual #######.

Two things:

1. The drawbacks were I would go unaccompanied and unsponsored for three years. Couldn't have my family visit. Also it wasn't a permanent job. I wanted to live and work somewhere I could build a life, not have to relocate after the job was up. The Army base living situation wasn't the most optimal from what I was told(Qatar would be a better choice). Nothing to do with Islam, so please get your facts straight. I know you wait with baited breath for mine or my wife's response but damn, I wasn't even talking to you and you couldn't resist.

2. What the hell is your problem? I'm done sugarcoating it. It's apparent you have an issue with my wife and I, and yet for the life of me I can't understand why you make it a point to start drama in almost every thread we are in. You've made it clear your "feelings" about me, someone you don't even know, but this is a bit much from an online perspective. You can't even go 24 hours without saying something either to me or about me. I didn't know your feelings were hurt that badly. Maybe it's not my home you should be worried about, what's going on in your household?

Point blank. Give it a rest. Tired of having threads closed because we keep bickering over the same damn thing. Either let it be or get on a plane and come see me in Hawaii. Put up or shut up. Or you can keep acting like a jealous little girl and throwing shade from the safety of the internet. Either way, I'm not going to entertain your ignorance anymore.

So do I. Was in DC when it all went down. It's not Islam, but terrorists. I know you can't tell the difference between the two.

If you are intent on using labels, that's no different than saying the firearms apologists should google the Sandy Hook victims to see the monstrosities they have defended.

No one here is defending the acts of terrorists, just as no one here is defending mass murderers here in the USA. The position of saying no muslims should be allowed to come to the USA because there have been terrorist attacks is no different than saying ban all guns because there have been mass shooters killing people.

Dealing in absolutes rarely solves an issue. I don't think anyone has the solutions yet. We can discuss and disagree, but your rhetoric and misrepresentation of other's position adds nothing.

If owning a gun came with a belief system that requires you to go and shoot people you may have a point.

The method used most recently was explosives, not sure I have seem many threads denouncing explosives, blowing people up, chopping their heads off, shooting them, method is not that relevant, the end result is.

Well , we know what you're offended by. God is Great!

There have been some people whose sole purpose of having a gun is just that. The guy who left the theater and went back to kill that other person is a prime example. Or Sandy Hook, or Colorado, or the places like Chicago that have a score of deaths.

Your second point. Why would there be anyone here denouncing those things if they're not doing them? Muslims shouldn't have to denounce acts of terror when they're not doing them. Because gun owners NEVER have to when someone walks into a school and just opens fire. Or a movie theater, or anywhere else.

FTR, there have been many a gun owners who have straight up said a person's dead loved ones don't trump their rights to own a gun. Muslims here don't even sink that low.
