Saudi is a hell hole and a good example of highly Islamic countries existing either in a perpetual state of war or with the citizenry kept under an authoritarian boot. No America told them to hang thieves from cranes. They came up with that all by themselves.

If the situation were reversed, if our government used torture and beheading and public humiliation to control us, there would be a lot more terrorism here too. And if Saudi was the leader of the free world and their liberty came at the expense of ours, we would hate them too. And we've seen throughout history that Christianity has plenty of room for fundamentalists.

None of that should be taken as an excuse for anything. They have major problems to work out in that part of the world. We need to let them.

I support measures to problems we are CURRENTLY having here in the US. Not the ones folks want to turn into life threatening because they hate Muslims.

So nothing special about Islam inciting violence even though almost all of the world's terrorism related deaths are conducted by Muslims, yet they are only 1/4 of the world's population. And the examples of seemingly regular guys going off the deep end after indoctrination hold no sway.

This view basically shows the limits of a general equivalency diploma.

You make it sound like Islam is the only thing that incites violence. Take a good look at this Christian country we're living in. The one that puts owning guns over the lives of children. The one where the police sit there and tell it's citizens we have no problems killing you if you flinch or say something to their discomfort. The one where speaking out at a rally can get you physically harmed or worse. The one where we protest a religion by showing up with guns and trying to provoke them into proving their religion is the "more" violent one, or by mocking a religious figure just so we can kill some "extremists".

Which is funny since guns are no where in the bible, but every single person who claims to be a Christian and running for office, has to say they support gun ownership. I mean they make commercials about it for crying out loud. Church going folks that love Jesus but have zero issues with blowing you away.

Another example is Iran prior to the Islamic revolution. That wasn't a hell hole. Google and see what it looked like.

In 1953, when the CIA orchestrated the coup of Mohammed Mossadegh's democratically elected government in Iran, and put the Shah of Iran back in power, we gained a steady supply of Persian oil for 25 years. We also sowed the seeds that lead to the Islamic revolution in 1979 and much of the hatred towards the west.

We'll never know what would have happened if we had supported democracy in Iran. But we have certainly seen what radical fundamentalism can do. Our reaction to that mistake was to ignore it, then repeat it. The same thing we're doing in Saudi Arabia today.
