Should I have stayed in the US for 2 years continuously to be eligible to file? Confused!

Hi everyone! A little back story, I'm 26 and got my US citizenship from my father when I was 16. I was born and raised in the Philippines and have only gone to the US for 3 months at a time since I was studying here. I am now filing to petition my husband and children. Someone here said that I should have stayed in the US for 2 years continuously to be eligible to file for my husband and kids. It was the first time that I've been told that and now I'm more confused?

Not true - but you will have to be able to show a US domicile before you can file an I-864 affidavit of support which is required for his visa to be issued.

Who said that?

I'll check the username, it's from someone in this forum. Here's the reply I got:

If you haven't lived in the US I believe 4 years, 2 of them after your 16th birthday I don't think you're illegible, but I'm not a lawyer so check it out.

Not true, however you will need a co-sponsor & you have to find a home

probably with you dad, there's no 2 yrs rule

Yes the co-sponsor is what I'm fixing and figuring out now. Thank you for the reply! :)

They probably meant for the CRBA.

Yeah, I hope that's what they meant. I got really scared when I was first told about the 2 years thing.
