So I will be leaving on a job assignment in 2 weeks. I have to leave my husband and stepson in the US. they will have been here just shy of 6 months when I leave. We are currently waiting on his EAD and I hope it comes soon. At least he has a job waiting for him once it arrives. I am kinda worried that he will be ok. My step son goes to school, also therapy and soon back to UTAH for his braces. They have been once already so they are use to going places without me also I have signed them up for events they could go to for families with disabled children. We went to one this past Saturday and had fun! He is just now telling me that he is a little nervous about staying here without me but if I want to keep my job, I must go. arrangements are already made and I will be there exactly 87 days. One of my fears is that I will miss the AOS interview. Should I phone them and let them know I am going or should I wait for the interview date and then notify them that I am out of town for business. I am surely hoping that I don't have an interview. I know some have received their greencard without one. What determines if you get an interview or not? We have already had 2 interviews so I am hoping they will waive it and just give him the GC. My 90 days for the EAD is up on April 4th, I am hoping he gets it before then because I leave April 5th. in anycase I am just venting and I know I would feel horrible if he had to leave me in Jamaica after only arriving for 6 months. He doesn't like it but understands our situation cant be helped. thanks for listening.

Thank you. Do you have any idea of what I should do about the possible upcoming AOS interview?

I sincerely wish that I had firm information to give you - I hope that someone who does will chime in, soon. I'm not sure what could be done other than either arranging to reschedule or have him go in, alone and ready to explain your absence. Maybe you could get some kind of official letter from your employer, explaining the need for your absence and leave it with him...support it with a notarized letter of your own? With that, he would have something that may offer legitimacy to the situation. It might be difficult, but would it be possible for you to return for a few days, if one is scheduled?

My humble opinion is to reschedule, don't jeopardize your job nor have

him go alone to the interview...Your past hurdles can work for or against,

he's nervous rightfully so...it maybe a you know what he runs into that

just try to tear him apart & it could be a nice understanding IO...Bring back

proof of job commitment & do interview after you're back

I have a job contract already available to me that I had to sign. I just spoke with USCIS and they said to call and reschedule if they even NEED an interview. I am hoping we don't and trust me I would not want him to go alone. There is no way that I could ask my employer to send me back for this personal matter. So jeopardizing my job is out of the question. If I must reschedule. I will. thanks
