Applying K-1 Military expedite and process questions

Hi everyone,

I have been looking through the forums about expediting application and most of them are if you about to get deployed. For my situation I am in the Navy Reserves to get recalled back into active as a recruiter but will be doing so in my hometown. Is it worth getting it expedited? or does it actually have to be a deployment overseas to be able to get applications expedited?

For the process of the K-1, are there interviews that will be scheduled for both my fiance and I? and since she is in japan, will she be doing the interview there or can she have one in the states when applying for the visa?

Thanks in advance

It doesn't hurt to apply..

The interview will be in Japan. Typically, the petitioner is not interviewed but anything is possible.

Most of times, USCIS will expedited the case when the petitioner stationed abroad. My husband was also in the military -he's now USCG retiree-and we did not expedite our application. But it worth of try since they have military hotline for immigration.

The interview most of times just the beneficiary but it could lead to the CO to interview you both (Stokes Interview) separately in rare case if the embassy has suspicion about the relationship whether is real or just for immigration purpose only.

My then-fiancé ( my now husband) went to my K-1 visa interview. He waited at waiting room while I was in the small room being interviewed by the CO. After approval, the CO asked me to bring him inside the room and congratulated both of us.

No she will have to go back to Japan for interview, she can come visit. She will just have to prove strong ties to come back in case they ask at the airport. I and my husband were together in Belgium when he got orders to report about 6 months later to US, they expedited our case, our I130 was approved in 2 months.

During the process when is the good time for her to go back to her hometown (like what status of the process) since the only thing I can think of is only for the interview, does she need to do something first before the interview? if so, do they send her forms or a checklist of what to do before the interview?
