Hi everyone, I was wondering if the Moscow Embassy prefers for the US fiance to be at the interview? Of course I would love to be there but I'm not sure I can get time off work (and flights seem to be around $1000 after all the fees). I'm trying to save for our new life together but obviously that can only happen with the visa being approved so I was just looking for some input...Thank you in advance!

From what I read, Moscow is pretty easy for K1 and the petitioner is not required at all. If you have good relationship evidence, then it's fine.

When my wife interviewed for hr fiancé visa, I decided to meet her mostly because I wanted to see her in person again, but also to be there for her during that phase in our life. At the time there were five other women interviewing for K1s and I was the only USC that was there. Everyone was approved, so I don't think it makes a big difference. If you can swing it, I would go, but I don't think it is necessary.

Good Luck!

Hi Laura,

I did it for my fiance, just to make him feel better and because it was around the holidays and I knew that it would be the last time I'd get to see his mom and family before he gets his greencard and we can go back next year. If I were you, I would try and save up for it. Just being there really shows how supportive of a fiancee you are, and I know it's expensive but lots of things worth while in life are! He's important to you, you should go. That's my opinion. Also by the time you go, it'll be nice weather and it'll really be a great time to go! Where's your fiance from?

Thank you for your input! He lives in Astrakhan and I agree about the weather haha. The last time I went to visit was in January when he was in St Petersburg and OMG I've never experienced that type of cold haha. We are currently still waiting on our NOA2 approval (we must have been put in a slow worker's pile)...

I elected to go and be there for my fiance to make sure all went smooth and just in case anything was amiss, you're a 2nd resource and you can best determine between the 2 of you what else may be needed to get approval. In my case, we were both warmly greeted and I was included in the conversations when appropriate. My fiance did stumble a bit on questions of our original meeting details, but we laughed through the fine points with the Interviewer and had our approval within 10 minutes.

I would strongly suggest that you go together if it's not an unbearably difficult journey. From a relational standpoint, you also get top possible points for going these extra mile(s).

Best of Luck to you.
