Hello!

As we go on with the visa process, my fiancé thought that it would be appropriate to start sending him my stuff, because its very unlikely that I will be able to take it all with me when I go there. So my question is, do you know a effective and cheap way to send big and heavy stuff like books or clothes to USA from Spain? I checked the national mailing service (correos) but it´s quite expensive. I would very much thank any help on the matter!

Thank you!

Try to find a local moving company that does international moves. Also you may want to check with DHL/UPS/Fedex. They all have a "regular" cargo division that should be able to help you out.

Shipping is not going to be cheap. You may be better of trying to sell your stuff and buy new in the USA. Also taking it with you (as additional checked luggage) might be a cheaper option.

Should you decide you want to move your stuff, look for official import and export agents in your area. You could also contact Iberia Cargo and ask if they have a list of agents for you.

Mail and courier services are not really meant for shipping lots of stuff.

I just left everything behind and sold most of it (one suitcase was enough for me)

Technically you aren't allowed to move without a visa. You can find a moving company to move your things, after your visa has been activated. I suggest doing it this way instead of paying a lot of duty on your items.

Before I came to the States, I mailed myself(Address in US) a parcel of k1 Visa copies and it costs me around 100USD, I brought as much stuffs as I can on my luggage, abandon alot of clothes and bought them here. You might want to consider abandoning some of your clothes and sacrifice the weight for other important stuffs.

I'm not sure of the volume you're talking about. Excess baggage might be one option depending on the weight of items (clothes might be worth it, a suitcase full of books might kill it though). If there's enough stuff you may want to look into sharing a container heading your way, if you can wait for the ship rather than needing it immediately.  As niki said above, you'll need your visa for this option or for other moving company options.

Try to find a local transporting company like Global Quote Logistics LLC which will give the goods on time as well as it's affordable for a normal user. One time I require urgent shipment of some important goods that time I used the service from the team &got a very experienced after getting the shipment delivery on perfect time.
