After NOA2. What now!!???

based on VJ estimates, i should find out something soon about

k-1 status if a NOA2 or RFE will be given ( crossing fingers ). Lets say i do get NOA2, what steps to take after? Don't want any stones unturned !! I've seen the k-1 process timeline on VJ, but i feel it doesn't get into detail as it should.Consulate will be In Dominican Republic. any tips will help

I think you may have some of your terminology a little off. You WANT a Noa2, that is (2nd notice of action) which means that USCIS saw that everything was okay and sends your package to NVC and the process moves forward. An RFE means they are requesting more information to process your case. Don't let it be as scary as you think it may be, they will send you exactly what they are looking for, and you compile whatever it may be and send it back. The visa process can be long and frustrating, and very annoying. Any questions or concerns VJ has tons of wonderful people who will do their best to answer those questions.

After you get a NOA2 (approval), they will send your case to the National Visa Center, where your case will get a case number that starts with SDOXXXXXXXXXXXx and they will promptly send your case to the Santo Domingo embassy. From there, the Santo Domingo embassy will be looking over your case and schedule an interview date, which the beneficiary will receive a letter in the mail. You should regularly check your case status at the CEAC web site (http://ceac.state.gov/) for updates as well as make inquiries (I called them - 603-334-0700) with the NVC about your interview date. Once Santo Domingo schedules a date, the NVC will know about it, so once the embassy gets it, call every 1-3 days or so

I had an instance where I found out the interview date and it was 3 weeks out, yet my wife had not received her letter in the mail. I emailed the Santo Domingo embassy and got the letters emailed to me and I forwarded to my wife and she printed them out so that she could do her medical and take care of the other things (police certificate, visa app fee, DS260, etc) listed on the letter. she did eventually receive the letter a few days later.

NOW, if you get an RFE instead, you should reply back to them as quickly as possible with the supporting or missing items/documents that they request. The longer you wait, the longer your process will be.

okkk.. here is the question.. can i schedule the interview date WHILE documents are being sent to the embassy?? obviously i would be stalking NVC for case number so i can schedule with the embassy and medical exam.... or Sto Domingo automatically give you a date and thats the day you have to stick with?

If this is K-1 Visa, you can schedule the interview yourself. Once you find out your case # SDO####. You can start filing out the DS-160 application form online at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/. You need to create your profile/electronic account at ww.ustraveldocs.com/do. Once you pay the visa fee, they will allow you to schedule your appointment.

Once I received my case #. I went ahead and filled out the DS-160 and created my profile. My fiance paid the fee at the Banco Popular, we were allowed to schedule our interview and VAC appointment. Our interview is next Thursday 3/31.

Fiance goes to Popular Banco, need to bring appointment letter received from the embassy.

If you do not have the appointment letter, you can email the embassy and ask for one,

Is DS260 the only fee? or will there be more at the embassy interview? or medical appointment? I just want to make sure I have everything ready.. by the way thanks everyone all this info is very helpful !!

Well it has been 2 years since my wife had her interview, but we did have to pay additional money once inside the embassy to complete the visa fee (you pay part at Banco Popular and the rest at the embassy), then you have to pay an additional $15 or so for the courier service to send you the passport with the visa in it. Your appointment letter should have all that information in it.

The medical appointment will be a few hundred dollars. You can go here to find out the rates. It is going to be between $200-$350 for the medical. Once you get your appointment letter, you can go for your medical, and you don't have to schedule it, you can just walk in, but go early in the morning, they are only open for a short time. http://www.consultoriosdevisa.com/

And for K-1, I believe it is the DS160.

Yes the DS160 sorry.. but is what it says on the us embassy sto domingo website

"PAYMENT: The date of your interview you will need to pay, for each visa applicant, the fee of US$265.00 (or the equivalent in Dominican pesos) at the Cashier in the Consular Section, American Embassy. "http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/mobile//k1-k2_instructions.html

is that $265 the same exact thing as paying the DS160 at banco popular? Im assuming they havent updated the website OR is it truly is a whole different fee?

Different. Be prepared to pay both fees.

No, you can't paid online. Once you fill out the DS-160, you will get a confirmation sheet at the end. Your fiance takes that sheet to Banco Popular, once the fee is paid. You have to wait a day or two and then you log back in and can schedule the interview and VAC appointment.

The DS160 $265, is paid in pesos at Banco Popular. That fee includes the visa, fingerprints and photo at the VAC. If you want the visa deliver to a different location you have to pay a fee for the services. But you can choose to pick it up after its ready. You can choose that option online when you are making your appointments. My fiance and I chose to pick up his at the VAC when it's ready.
