This is regarding the "Applicant's residence for last 5 years" section of the G-325A Biographical Information form.

What is actually considered a "residence"? I've moved A LOT over the past 5 years and done some long-term traveling. I usually just list my parents' home address (it's on my drivers' license, passport, credit card billing address, etc) as my "permanent address" in the USA.

BUT, I don't want to be deceptive or confusing, especially because 1.) I have lived together with my fiance at short-term addresses overseas, and 2.) because my parents' home address ("permanent address") is in Small Town, Texas, but I have lived/worked/moved houses in Houston, Texas periodically since college.

So I made an addendum to the form where I listed every single place I physically lived in the US (and received mail at) and overseas, and noted when I was traveling so there are no gaps in time. For example:

* Residence Z - Auckland, New Zealand (with fiance) - Feb 2016 to Present

* No residence- traveling - Dec 2015- Feb 2016

* Residence Y - Wellington, New Zealand (with fiance) - Oct 2015- Dec 2015

* Residence X - Wellington, New Zealand (with fiance) - Sept 2015 - Oct 2015

* Residence W - Houston, Texas, USA (house with roommates where I signed a lease)- Feb 2015 - Sept 2015

* Residence V - Houston, Texas, USA (friend's house, used this address when i started a new job) - Jan 2016- Feb 2015

* Residence U - Small town, Texas, USA (parents' house and my 'permanent mailing address') - Dec 2015- Jan 2016

* No residence - traveling - Sept 2015 - Dec 2015

* Residence T - Melbourne, Australia (with fiance)- June 2015 - Sept 2015

This goes on for 23 lines to cover 5 years!

I want to be transparent and give them all the information they need, BUT also don't want to make things difficult or confusing and cause delays.

Did anyone else have this sort of situation? Did you list everything like this? Or are all these places not considered my "residence"?

Thank you for any help or advice! This forum is so helpful and is making the whole process a lot less intimidating! :-D

No need to go crazy trying to list every single place you slept over the last 5 years. You do not need to list places when traveling. It is asking about where you actually lived, and not visited. I don't think you need to list places you stayed for only a month either. Just list places you held a lease and your permanent address in TX.

Any follow up on this?

They say not to list places while traveling, but that also there should be no gaps in time. What gives?!

I would appreciate any help in this matter.

The form G-325A is no longer required. It is all covered in the I-129F forms.

Please ensure you're following the most current instructions on filing.
