I have know this day will come, and it is getting closer everyday. I already bought my wife a car, a 2010 because I know it is going to get dinged up lol. Being from the south and growing up in the country, I had my first car at 14 years old, and as most of us Americans had a permit and was a legal driver at the appropriate time, even taught a few of my friends to drive. So I know this is gonna get hairy, anybody care to share their experiences teaching their asawa to drive here in the states? Any advice besides patience? haha

No experience with that specific scenario. However, I did teach my younger siblings to drive and they would give me a headache from all the sudden hard braking and not following instructions. Just buy her driving lessons. 10 1-hour lessons should be more then enough.

My husband is still teaching me how to drive and I know I still have a long way to go before I can take my dmv test. Go out in the country where there arent any cars around and teach her there for a while. For me, i needed a little bit of a push so after i got used to driving the car, he had me drive where there are a little bit of traffic.

But now that I started working (i take the bus for now), we dont have enough time for my lessons so we decided that i'll just take classes in a driving school. We're still choosing which one though.

i learned my driving in the philippines. I arrived here Oct 2015, got my driver's license month of december 2015. im kinda nervous since i need to hit the gas for 45 kph speed limit. in the philippines theres no speed limit because of too much traffic lol.so when i got my driver's license hubby was obliged to buy me a car

Yea my house is in the country and there is really no traffic, no taxis and no buses as well, so she is gonna have to learn quick, I'm thinking golf cart first for a while, go get the mail and then the car hahahah

Youre so lucky living out in the country, i would love to live where the next neighbor is a mile away from our house hahaha i believe its best to let her start learning in the car you got her. am sure its not stick so i bet she'll learn in no time

my hubby has no problem with my driving BUT he asked me to drive in freeway...guess what? the very first time in 5 years we've been together we shouted at each other. then i keep driving in freeway when im alone. now i guess im okay

I also never drove before. My husband tried to teach me but... just few minutes later we ended up fighting. Everything he taught just seemed too hard for me to comprehend. I got nervous and could not focus. So maybe it is true not to let your husband teach you. Haha. I was grounded a lot of times (yes like a kid!) not to drive anymore. Good thing a colleague volunteered to teach me every Sunday, 3 hrs every time for the last three months. I must say she is way better teacher than my husband.lol. My confidence boost up. I even went to another state to practice driving last week. Now, I am practicing with my parallel parking and hopefully will past the test next week.

Your wife needs someone who has lots of patience and calm. Surely she will learn so fast.
