Tranlating documents

I have not yet send out my I-129. Im still gathering all information. But when I read the package, it states that all non-English documents must be translated in English. (such as emails, birth certificate from her) Can I do this on my own since I am also fluent in Spanish or do I need some one else to do it for me to reduce suspicion for them?

Any tips before I send it out? Please, anything will be appreciated.

You can do it yourself, but you need a statement on it that you're competent in the language and fluent, etc (there's an example in the guides but I can't find it) with your signature, etc.

As for the birth certificate, ANY non-English documents must be translated like it says. So yes, it must be translated.

The email need not be translated, all they are interested with email is that you communicate, and share a common language. I sent in the log showing number and dates of emails, and a few sample emails.

As for verbiage of the translation statement, there is a good on on the USCIS site.

Translation can be done by anyone that is fluent in the language, all the need to do is sign the translation and write the disclaimer Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

Signature_________________________________

Date Typed Name

Also in the future please use the standard size font, people reading VJ are not blind, and if they are vision impared they will make the fonts larger on their own, using such a large font just makes it that much larger for thos who do enlarge it on their computers.

If you have any doubt, you could just find a sworn translator to translate the birth certificate, since it's an official document.

The list if its on the web site may be hard to find. Contacting the consulate may be easier.

No need to find a certified translator. I just did it myself and included the little blurb someone posted here. In fact, I wrote his letter of intent for him in Spanish and English.

And I don't think that the US is as picky about official translations as Mexico is.
