I didn't do that visa, but the London website says --

Applications submitted to NVC on or after November 12, 2014: You are required to send copies of your documents to NVC and furnish the original on the day of your interview. Note: the original Affidavit of Support, Form I-864 is still required by NVC and will be forwarded to the Immigrant Visa Unit at the Embassy and will be available for the consular officer on the day of your interview. Please review the checklist here. (PDF)

Even the i-864?

London says the I-864 form (not supporting evidence) should be original to NVC.

People on VJ have reported sending copies of the I-864 to the NVC and been fine.

Thank you!

If there's an error on the i-864 is it ok to correct it by hand?

My family are in the US and as my dad's vision isn't very good I completed most of the form and emailed it to him to print, sign and post. If there's an error in his tax figures for example is it ok if I correct it by hand having typed it initially? Or if some info is missing when the form is printed is it ok if I insert it in manuscript?

Thanks.

I corrected my mother in law's affidavit in pen because she typed in estimates and I wanted the exact numbers in there. I had no issues with it however the instructions do say that the form uses the 2D barcode technology, which means that as information is typed, the barcode at the bottom of the page changes to reflect the unique information of your specific document. If you handwrite corrections, then the barcode won't reflect that. Like I said, I didn't have an issue with it - the numbers I changed also weren't significantly different to the ones originally entered. But it's something to consider!

Good luck with everything :)

I'm so happy!

I want to thank everyone for answering all my questions. I just got an email with letter attached from NVC to confirm that I'm now in the queue for an interview at the US embassy in London and it would be within 60 days.

I'm thankful I didn't need an immigration lawyer because of you guys (though I'm a prtoperty lawyer) and I didn't get a checklist either.

So please point me in the direct to getting ready for my interview in London etc.

Thank you.

So did you send original I864 or copy to the NVC ?
