Hello, I am filing for ROC next month. My USC husband and I are living apart temporarily for work. I had a question about how to fill up the addresses on the form. I am working in CA and staying here while I work but for all intents and purposes, WA is where my permanent residence is and that is where my husband is.

When I filled up the change of address form online, the term there was "permanent" address so I put in our WA address and for mailing I put my CA.

For the i-751, the term is "physical" address. So should I put the WA or the CA address in here? I called the military helpline and they weren't very forthcoming. They just said they couldn't advise me either way and just attach a note explaining. I wanted to put in what made more sense. I am physically in CA but my permanent address is in WA. Should I put it exactly that way or put in WA and explain I am temporarily in CA for work? (I will have to explain anyway about that).

Thanks, everyone!

How temporary? You're supposed to let the USCIS know within 10 days if you change your physical address. Here's a link: http://blog.uscis.gov/2010/09/five-answers-to-common-questions-on.html

You can attach a letter explaining why you're at a different place; it will still probably be a flag that will cause an interview.

Hi, I already did update for the AR 11. My issue is that the terminology is different on the AR 11 and I-751. On AR 11 it is "permanent" address while on i-751 it is "physical". They can and will be interpreted differently.

Gosh, I missed that part of your post, my apologies. Your permanent address will be your WA address, right? But your physical address is different (which matches your AR-11), so you'll have to put that in. The attachment letter explaining that it's just temporary is good (maybe you have an end date for the work in mind?), and I hope you don't get called for an interview, but it's one of the big flags when you're not at the same address as your husband.

No worries, I appreciate your taking the time out to reply. I realize we might get an interview. It would be a hassle but nothing we can't overcome. I anticipate that we'd be away from each other for most of the i-751 process because he will be deployed too.

Thank you.

I called the military helpline and they said to put what reflects the current most accurate situation. In your case, that would be putting his address on deployment. Just add an explanation in your cover letter, as well as the orders.
