Seems our time has come, our interview is Tuesday morning at 8:15.
I’m wondering how the process goes?

First, when entering the Embassy, can we enter as we did for the I-130 through the US entry point?

It appears the interview is for my wife but we have all these documents to pass so surely I can be there for that part and then maybe they interview us together and separately???

Can someone who has “been there, done that” please tell me how this interview will go?
Thanks for any help.

You could try looking through the embassy reviews for Manila. People often post details of their interviews in those, including the steps that you're after.

2012: Married
2014 2016 2017: I-130 packet direct to Frankfurt

Frankfurt's "steps" to DCF:

Step 1: I-130 Petition Checklist (PDF, from their USCIS page)

Step 2: Immigrant/Fiance(e) & K-Visa Applicant Checklist (PDF, from their Appointment & Interview page)

Try asking Webdevman, they had their interview i think a couple of weeks ago.

I just replied to a pm from them so hopefully they will see this post and reply.

Since getting accurate info is sooooooooooo hard I will be happy to continue updating as we go.

You're welcome to pm me anytime you want as I know we also have been watching each others posts and communicating via pm during this process. :)

One of our problems lately is our internet, it's unusually slow, to the point of even sending an email is hard much-less signing in and posting here!

I've done several searches about this both here and google and can't find a simple answers, no surprise as it's been that way through this whole process.

I'm sure the guard will tell us where to go when we arrive but my main concern is all the documents.

Some places I read you submit docs at one window and move on.

I have all kinds of docs and don't want to submit everything unless requested so I'm hoping I'll have the opportunity if they want more to give them more but I don't know how this works, especially since it's said to be my wife's interview????

The more I read the more it seems like I the US citizen petitioning my wife doesn't even need to go to this "interview".

I have a bad back and stage 4 COPD. I can't be standing in lines outside for any length of time.

It would seem to me the most important part of this is the proper documents, not proving my wife and I are a couple..

That's easy!

Frustrated!! I thought I would be there to help present the documents and answer any questions as the petitioner.. :ranting:

We just completed the interview a few hours ago. Here's the short summary:

We arrived at the Consulate at 5am for a 6:15am interview. The line was already very long but since we had a child, a nice security guard let us be first in line in front of the Embassy. At around 6am, the line moved to front of the Embassy where they ask you to produce the first page of the DS-260 and the first page of the Invitation letter. at 6:10, they let some of us queue in front of the door leading to the X-Ray scanners. Again, this is only because we had a child with us.

HOWEVER, if the petitioner is with you, you can enter the entrance for US Citizens which is a much shorter line

Thanks for the post, we don't have a child but if since I'm there we can go in the US side and the fact that they were there as a couple points me to the direction that my presence may be helpful.

The idea of go to this window, drop off your papers and go to the next window isn't very appealing to me.

Even when we presented our i-130 we were asked for this doc or that one to be sure they had enough to approve us.

I'm disabled with a bad back as well as stage 4 COPD.

I plan to prepare papers to prove that if needed but I don't know if we'll have the opportunity to present them the way it was sounding. I just want to know if I'm there and they need more docs I'll get the opportunity to give them..

I had a pm from Webdevman to which I replied and asked him what his thoughts were. Hopefully he'll comment here and if not I'll post what I learn.

Thanks for your help!!!

Of course, The embassies do different, but here in Thailand the wife has to be interviewed alone. This is what I have read to do about papers you don't want to show. Do not submit the papers you don't want to show at the first window. At the end of the interview, ASK how you did, they will not always tell you. They will just ask you to sit at another window. If they say they need more info, it means you are going to be issued the "need more info form" (I forget the form number). If they say they need more info, ASK what it is that they want, If you have it with you tell them you have it with you and give it to them there. If its a joint sponsor, it may take a few more days, but you save the time of mailing and it going though their system to match up with your case. I hope this helps some.

From what I gather and from what my wife said there were many husbands there with their wife's but it is not required. I do not know about what door you will enter though if you accompany here. And sadly yes, you will wait in line, get a number and sit and wait, etc. For my wife it was not too bad because she is 6 months pregnant. :)

Get there early and hopefully you will not be there too long. :)

I certainly don't want to go if I don't need to or if I can't contribute.

I HATE driving in Manila, and tomorrow is my plate day, not allowed.

I remember submitting the I-130 and since my wife was there the woman barely spoke to me.

They just "Tagaloged or Tagaglished" along while stood there duhhhhh and then I went and paid the fees while they continued.

There are a LOT of docs here and I'm the business person in the family not my wife.

Considering this is the US consulate and I'm the petitioning US citizen filing DCF because I live here

I'd think they would want me there but if not I'll just stay home and let my wife go.

So in the end it seems my presence isn't necessary and if it's like when I passed the I-130 I seemed to only be in the way.

I will stay home and my my wife can do this one on her own and we'll see what happens.

All documents are sorted and prepared so I'll have an interesting morning waiting for the results..

Thanks everyone for you input throughout this crazy process... :)

I just finished organizing all the papers for my wife.

What a mes lol..

Now it's time to go lay down so she can sleep a few hours.

Thankfully her sister is going with her for her 8:15 interview.

I'll post our results tomorrow, hopefully it will be a good day!

Thanks again...
