how to withdraw my k1 visa petition

Hi everyone,

please help. I'm the beneficiary. How to withdraw the k1 visa petition? We got NOA2 on March 8th. Right now the petition is probably at the NVC. can i just wait for like 1 month or 2 months and write a letter to the us embassy? will it cancel my visa? will it affect me anyway in the future?

is it necessary for the petitioner to write a letter to USCIS and NVC? because the petitioner said he will just leave it and have it expire.

Right now I would prefer to cancel it formally than leave it to expire.

Anyone know what to do in the case?

Thanks.

Only the petitioner can formally stop the petition, as it's their petition. You can inform the embassy once the petition arrives of your desire to not interview however.

Thanks for replying

How would it affect me if he just leave it to expire?

He told me he talked with one of his coworker who used to work at the USCIS office, "it is fine to leave it and expire."

So he said he would just leave it to expire.

I don't want to contact him or to discuss about formally write letters to uscis and nvc to cancel it.

It would only affect you if you plan on being petitioned by someone else soon and it didn't expire yet.

Filed: AOS (apr) Country: Kenya
Timeline

how long does it take for it to expire? and what if I apply for a tourist or student visa before it expires, will it be fine?

Hard to tell, we've seen months. Yes it could affect other visa attempts. Contact the petitioner.

Thanks for replying. He is not communication with me. I told him I would like to talk about the visa. But he never bother to reply. He blocked me on facebook right after we break up. I think most likely he has moved on. It was like right away. I don't really have a clue about what to do right now.
