A Scottsdale mother accused of endangering her 2-year-old son by leaving him with Scottsdale Fashion Square parking valets goes before a judge Thursday.

Gardenia Zakrzewski-Johansson's pretrial conference is set for 10 a.m. at Scottsdale City Court, court officials said.

The 39-year-old mother fetched national headlines for the December incident where she reportedly left her sleeping toddler in her BMW to dash into Neiman Marcus to shop with her small dog.

The former Montessori schoolteacher is charged with one count of child endangerment for the Fashion Square incident. She also faces a second child-endangerment charge for allegedly leaving her child that same month in a north Scottsdale jewelry store while she went to Starbucks.

If convicted of the two counts of child endangerment, Class 1 misdemeanors, Zakrzewski-Johansson could face up to six months in jail, three years' probation and other penalties, such as parenting classes, officials said. She also faces a Child Protective Services probe.

She's a former teacher - she may just be a stay-at-home mom at the moment.

Leave the baby, take the dog? #######?

that's what americans do lol.. i've seen a lot of people more concerned bout their pets than human beings.. well.. not only americans.. there are stupid people around the world that would rather feed the animal than feed themselves.. i knew this lady in Mexico that would eat like junk food in order for her ugly puppy to eat healthy and get all the vet appts and stuff.. zomg

Dogs make better accessories than children, especially if they're wearing pink sweaters.

And they can fit into CUTE little bags. How quaint....

LMAO LMAO!!!

yea if they made bags for babies like for the puppies, it'd be different

Times have changed since I was a kid

All the stuff my parents did, which was the norm back then- they would end up in the Clink nowadays.

Totally. So she left the kid in the car *with parking valets* for a few minutes, big freaking deal.

Hey, she was shopping for a new outfit for the dog, he/she needed to come along..

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Big Deal!? No way I'd ever go for that. If my wife did this she'd be begging the Judge to put her in jail for 6 months! I don't trust anyone.
