So father is immigrating from a b/2 visa, concurrent filing. all of the various applications ask about a middle name. On his birth certificate it doesn't list his patronymic name like in his passport and every other document he has, do I list this patronymic name as a middle name on the applications or just as "other names used"

Thanks

Harry

You can list it and then list his name without it under 'other names used', or you can not list it, and then list the full name as on passport under 'other names used'. Maybe use the one that he used for the tourist visa application as the prominent, listed one.

Thanks for the fast response Kay! I guess my only concern will be" well its not on the birth certificate so its not his name, RFE" but I am not really sure, as I am new to this

If he received the tourist visa within the last year, the you include a copy of the passport page with the visa for the I-485, so the full name will be seen there(if he used for the tourist visa). Could also go ahead and include a copy of the bio page of his passport along with his birth certificate with the I-130 too, if you want to show how his names are listed on both.

The patronymic name is derived from his father's first name so for a Russian speaker it is obvious what it is even on the birth certificate because the father's name is listed there.

Hi EM so would your suggestion be to put it in as his middle name, or just on other names used? since its not on the birth certificate?

Thanks!
