My K-1 was assigned an NVC case number on 3/16. As of 3/17, when I check the CEAC tracker, it says it is "In Transit." For some reason I feel confused about this stage of the process, and the guides that I see posted are for the spousal visa. (If I'm missing a guide for the K-1, please point me to it!)

I have a few questions:

1) When I called to get the case number, I didn't give them any email address for updates. Should I call them back and do this? Or doesn't it matter?

2) Will the consulate notify us when they receive the paperwork and we can actually file the DS-160?

3) Does the CEAC tracker still show updates from the consulate, also?

4) Basically, do I just sit and wait for the embassy to contact him?

Thank you!

Thank you, but are you saying I should contact the embassy? Or just let everything go and wait to hear from them?

In transit means its bean sent to embassy in your country( so its probably in airplaine right now haha ). No you dont need to call them back, next email update will be message from your consulate with invitation on interview, answering the next question, yes embassy will notify you :) When your case will arrive in embassy the CEAC will update that as well. Yes you just need to wait letter from your embassy! Good luck ! :)

I looked at your timeline, did you wait that long for NVC to receive your docs.. its more than a month !:( We are waiting for our case number and calling everyday so Im curious about that.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thank you nataliejur! I'm not sure exactly when NVC received my docs, as I was out of the country visiting my fiance for 3 weeks so I couldn't call them. But I called the day after I got back and they said they had just started processing it, so that would have been on 3/16. Over a month from NOA2.

Susan continue to check the Ceac website, it will change to read : Ready

Immigrant Visa Case Number: PTP2016xxxxxx

Case Creation Date: 11-Jan-2016

Status Updated Date: 17-Mar-2016

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at: http://nvc.state.gov/interview

After this stage you will go to the the GCI portal (if you have already set it up) print out your MVR so that your fiancé can take it to make the fee payment at sogexpress. The next day (shortly after midnight) you will recieve and email from the consulate that you can set your interview. I hope this answers your question.

No need to give them your email addy, they have it already from you I29f, so intransit means that your paperwork is on the way to the consulate.

Thank you so much MissLacey. So, he can fill out the DS-160 now and schedule the interview? Even while it still says "In transit" on the tracker? Does he need to fill it out and go to Soge Bank or can I fill it out and make the payment online for him?

Yes fill out the DS-160 you will need it on the travel docs web portal. Print the deposit slip, take it to Sogexpress (this fee must be paid in goudes), the next day you can book your interview.
