Hi,

First, just some background on my case: I filed the K-1 petition for my fiance on Dec 28, 2015 and got the approval notice from USCIS on Jan 25th, 2016. I received a letter from NVC on March 12th informing me that they have received my petition and will be sending it to the Kabul embassy. The letter also included the case number.

I have not heard from the Kabul embassy on whether they have received the petition from NVC. Does anyone know how long it normally takes? Should I email the embassy and ask? I think there is also an option to schedule the interview on the website. Is it too soon to schedule the interview? Should I wait until the embassy contacts my finance?

Sorry I got my dates wrong. I sent the petition to USCIS on Dec 22nd, 2015 and received the approval notice from USCIS on Feb 15th,2016. I got the letter from NVC on March 12th, 2016. Now I am just waiting for the Kabul embassy. Not sure what the next steps are.

My fiance had his interview yesterday on April 3rd. He received a yellow card saying that his case has to go under further administrative processing, but they took his passport. Not really sure what it means. Does anyone know?

It's called 'check', basically the state department will conduct further and more detailed background investigation and national security assessment. I know it's not uncommon with non-immigrant visas
