Specific for Canada: ADIT stamp

Hi everyone,

When I read the Montreal consulate website, I saw that it states that when the beneficiary crosses the border, they will receive an ADIT stamp to allow them to work right away:

"At the port of entry, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection official will stamp your passport and make a notation that you are registered for an LPR card. You will have an opportunity at the port of entry to confirm the mailing address where you would like to receive your LPR card.

It may take several months for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to process and send the LPR card to you. In the interim, the passport stamp, valid for one year, permits employment and travel as you await your LPR card. You may depart and return to the U.S. before you receive your LPR card, as long as the stamp in your passport has not expired. Should the stamp expire before you have received your LPR card, you should contact USCIS in the U.S. prior to departure to obtain permission to return to the United States."

Is this correct or will we have to wait for the work permit after AOS?

Not for k1s. You can apply for your ead but it will expire with your I-94.

But the statement I just pasted (on the original post) was from the Montreal consulate's page on K-1 visas.

They used to give a stamp to allow you to work at the POE but that was stopped awhile ago.

It's a mistake. They must have copy and pasted that from the sections for immigrant visas (because K-1 is handled by the immigrant visa division even though it's not an immigrant visa). People entering on immigrant visas are immediately LPRs. People entering on K-1 are not LPRs, and won't be LPRs until they file AOS after marriage and the AOS is approved (about a year after applying).
