Just quick question regarding a Canadian police clearance. My fiancé only needs a 'basic police clearance' correct? She does NOT need to get the fingerprints correct? She obtained one and it just states her record was checked and it is 'clear'.

When I did mine I didn't have to do fingerprints and as long as the name RCMP is on it you will be fine

I'm currently waiting for my package after getting my I-130 approval as well so I wanted to get the ball rolling on my criminal record check.

Are they ok if you just go to your local police department and get fingerprinted or do we need to file elsewhere?

Just trying to get ahead :)

Sent I-130 (via Canada Post): Feb 29, 2016

NOA1 hardcopy received: March 16, 2016

NOA2 approval text & email: June 9, 2016

Yep, I just went to my local RCMP and asked for a police clearance certificate. Cost me $40 and I they gave it to me on the spot. Fingerprints are not needed unless they have been convicted of a crime.
