I applied May 2015. Went to my interview January 2016, everything was fine, she didn't even look at any of our marrige proof, I was even approved on the spot. She said to wait 30 days for green card and here I am a year later NOTHING! I went to a few InfoPass and of course they tell you the same thing "Still processing", made severals SR as well, same answer. I had to renew my EAD card this October and haven't receive anything neither. Yes, I did send several Service Requests which they said the same thing "Still processing". I called the USCIS number, same thing. And I did contact my Congressman that was no help neither. I'm stuck! I don't know what else to do but WAIT and be EXTREMELY PATIENT.

I am sorry you aregoing through This. Did they at least specify if it was a background check, or something worthy of a wait like this? I have seen a couple of people in another forum, from NYC, at least 3-4 who have been waiting as long as you are. I hope you get answers. Continue to be proactive...

No, no reason AT ALL. All they keep saying is that "It's still processing" and that the wait "has been necessary" for my case, but they never say WHY. I'm just letting things be right now, I'm tired of waiting and they don't give me no explanations. At this point its pointless to try another InfoPass or Service Request.

Is it probably background check? I am just guessing and the ones that I read, that is usually what keeps the case longer after the interview.

I don't think so cuz then they would of said that. But they don't give any reason. & my husband and I don't have a criminal record or anything of that sort

We can only speculate- but it could also be that you may have a common name or last name and sometimes it takes a lot of hits during the background checks. Like my aunt got held by CBP for example she has a hispanic name but she is very very asian- they had to double check because someone with her same name was in some sort of trouble. From which country did you originate, if you dont mind me asking. I dont mean to be discrimanatory in my question, so forgive me in advance.

I understand. My husband and I are both Hispanics. & my husband have a "popular" name and last name, but he uses both (last name) his mom and dad, his mom's last name is very rare and my name is rare too, so I don't think there's an issue with that. But who knows what it might be.

Hi NYC filers.  We are currently waiting for our interview for the AOS case.  My husband came on the K1 visa.  We filed right away after marriage and had our biometrics appointment just a few short weeks after the filing.

I was surprised how fast that came.  The EAD and AP came right on schedule too.

Looks like my prediction for our interview (the 6-8 months timeframe) is off based on what I've read here.

That's depressing....we were really hoping to get his approved green card so that we can move on with our lives a little bit.

For anyone that's had an interview scheduled, how long  was it between when you received the interview letter and when the interview was scheduled for?  (Like did they tell you a month before you were supposed to interview?  Or was it just a week in advance?)

6-8 months? where you got that from... Not NY... 8-11 months is the average time

Refer here and compare the difference between NOA and Interview...

Also depends on where exactly you are in NYC. At this point it can be as long as 10 months +++ just for an interview. Then almost 12 months to day of actual interview.
