1.5 weeks after receiving our new medical, my green card is finally in production!!!

 

Btw I waited 13 months for my interview in the NYC field office. It's been a long wait.

Ok so we had the AOS interview yesterday at Federal Plaza in New York City. Our appointment was at 1:10PM so we arrived at 12:20PM. We signed in and were provided with a ticket and we were told to listen for our number. They were a little busy that day so our officer called us at 2:10PM. He was really nice, he noticed we were nervous and said not to be and that this will be a breeze. We had A LOT of documentation, pictures and bona fide proof with us however he only asked for a couple of items. He then asked me for a copy of my neutralization certificate- which I didn't have. I became a citizen when I was 17 through my parents who became neutralized then. They both received their neutralization certificates however I never got one because I was under the age of 18. I never thought I would need one.. I assumed that a US passport would suffice however it did not! I learned that a US passport is not proof that you're a US citizen. He said he would have approved the AOS however he cannot until I prove to him that I'm a citizen, and the only way is to apply for a certificate and then send him copies of my parents certificates along with my old green card number. He was nice enough to take time and draft up the RFE for us on the spot and he directed me where to go and what to do to obtain the certificate.

 

Alas, the interview went well. He said that this will just extend the process by 2 weeks. Once I submit the RFE, we should be good to go. I was pleasantly surprised with the demeanor of the officer, he was very friendly (although very through in asking questions, my nerves did run wild a few times) but overall it wasn't as scary as I thought!

 

The only downside is that I have to spend $1,170 for this certificate!

Hello January filler,

today Sep 1st at 7:15 Eastern time, got 3 texts saying my AOS case was updated followed by an email saying my card was ordered  and going to be mailed soon. 

My green card was approved after 7 months, applying for adjustment from K1 in New York. 

That was a surprise, was not excepting for it before December at least. That was soooo unexpected. And shocking, and was one of the best days ever.

So I went in depression today. So my friend that filed in January of this year got interview date for October 4. I filed in December and still no update 😭😭😭😭

Don't worry about that.  The timeframe is 10.5 months.  If it passes 10.5 months then you can contact USCIS.

 

December Filers can expect an interview October - November.  You are still within the timeframe.

 

Currently As of June 30th 2017 they were processing July 2 2016.

(July 30th wld be August 2nd, August 30th wld be September 2nd n so on)

Which would mean that now in September they would be processing October 2nd, which would imply you have atleast 2 more months before you can start to panic

 

Not every file is the same but it generally takes an average of 10.5 months in the NYC field office.  Stop worrying, does you no good.  Stress takes a toll on your physical and mental.

 

I had to wait 10.5 months just like many persons on here in NYC field.  I knew someone who was adjusting from the K1 visa and got his interview and greencard in about 5 months.

 

You'd be fine.  Your time coming real soon, just prepare for the interview, ensure you have all your documents ready to go

Make sure you keep checking your mail also.  Don't rely on the email or texts.  Also what you can try to do because I did this, in April when I knew I should have heard from USCIS I requested an infopass and they gave me my interview date and time on that very day telling me that they just scheduled me for an interview.  So to ease your mind you can do so also, wait for midnight to 8 am to try to schedule an infopass. https://my.uscis.gov/appointment

USPS delivered our post-interview RFE to the USCIS office on 8/30- it's been almost 2 weeks and we haven't heard anything. Not even a receipt that they received it. Should I be worried? 

 

I wasn't able to give proof of my certificate of naturalization/citizenship because I never had one. I copied my parents' certificates and my old greencard number along with my US passport. I also informed them that the reason I'm not submitting the certificate is because I'm waiting for my parents to get a copy of their marriage cerfiticate and birth certificate copies (they lost them and I cant apply for the certificate without this info). The officer said to do just that. 

 

I'm biting my nails again! 

 

How long did you receive GC approval after your RFE's?

Went to the SSA office in 123 William St in New York to update my SS card (remove the DHS restriction). It was awesome they open at 7 am was done by 7:20 am ... very convenient for working people since most SSA offices open from 9 am to 4 pm.

will receive the new card n 2 weeks.

I received a text message on Sat 9/30 notifying me that there was an update to our case. I logged on and it looks as if my husbands GC is in production!!!!!!!!!! Not the waiting game for the actual greencard begins  

 

How long after this message should I expect to get the GC in the mail?
