Hello Everyone, I'm from Brooklyn and thought I'd join the NYC thread. It seems as if NYC processing times are taking much longer than other field offices... I cannot wait for my case to get to the next level. The latest on mine is my husband received his EAD on Christmas Eve (yay) however it had an error in his last name. Opened a SR and was told to wait for a letter. Went with my husband to the SS office in the meantime to try and get a social under the correct last name however we were advised that they can only provide the ss# based off the EAD card which had the spelling, which they did. We were told to come back to correct it once we receive the corrected EAD card. The typo is so annoying, it wasn't our fault I triple checked the forms I sent and all of them were correct which means that this was USCIS's error. Fine. I just sent back the EAD with additional info that they required and we're now awaiting an answer. We're going to go to the DMV tomorrow and get my husband his first US license ever after being in this country to 10 years. Hopefully they'll just look at the spelling on his passport instead of his SS card, I would hate to go back twice!

How does it get cancelled?  Do they cancel interview without a reason?

Literally a week after we received the interview notice we received a letter in the mail saying that our interview was cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances". We showed up at the interview anyhow because we didn't want to take any risks and they just told us that they couldn't see us and we had to wait until we received a new interview date. So beyond frustrating. Good luck with your infopass appointment!

That's unreasonable! Did you send in a service request or anything to check what's going on? How is the congressman helping goes?

Yea, I will try to request to see the IO, but not sure if they will allow me to. Keep you guys posted tmr.

Yeah, I made an info pass appointment a week later. The guy that helped me said that they're pretty swamped and all I could do was wait it out. The congressman's office said pretty much the same thing and that they couldn't really do much because we were still within normal processing times. He had already put a info request with the USCIS previously for our case and I suspect that's what prompted the interview notice in the first place, but yeah... At this point they said all we could do is wait. According to their website they're looking at cases from February 8, 2016. We're February 25, 2016, so here's hoping we here something soon. That feeling of having to renew your EAD card man, it's not a good one. Hopefully the info pass can be more helpful to you than it was to me -_-
