minor child passport will expire before getting his green card

Hello everyone,

i need some help. In October 2015 we filed for i 130 and i 486 for me and my 7 years old son. I just find out yesterday that the waiting time in Dallas is about 11 months and my son`s passport will expire this coming April. Does he need new passport before he will get his green card??or can we get his new passport anytime after he already has GC. Do minors go for an interview for I 486 like adults ???? or he will get GC as soon as i will get mine.

my time line

5-13-13 got Married to US citizen

10-19-15 filed for i 130,i 485 ,i 765 and sent all documents

11-4-15 checks cashed

11-9-15 NOA 1

11-14-15 biometric appointment for 11-24-15

11-24-15 biometric DONE
1-15-16 i 765 letter

1-16-16 EAD at home
