petitioner change of name and address

Hey everyone!

Our status - Interview approved, waiting on passports to come back with visas, been in AP#2 for 2 weeks now.

Issue #1 - I have moved into our house! Exciting! But I need to change my address. I tried to do it online, but it said my form and receipt number didn't match. But those are the only options i have! Thoughts? Will this disrupt the issuing of the visas?

Issue #2 - Name change... My divorce was finally final, May 2015. I didn't change my name back immediately because I wanted to get the 129f application in asap. I was hoping to ride it out until my family arrived in America, but I couldn't. I had to get a new drivers license. It's in my maiden name now, and SS as well. My passport expires within 6 months, so I need to renew it as well. And in my maiden name. All of the forms list my maiden name as 'other names' used, and they have my birth certificate, 1st marriage license, and divorce decree. What do I do? How do I go about making the switch with them?

Thank you all!

You don't need to change it for the foreign fiance(e) to receive their K-1 visa.

When you marry, if you change your name, then use your marriage certificate to change your SSN and IDs to your new married name. Your foreign spouse will file for AOS and then you can enter your new address at that time.

#1 It will not disrupt any service, but you should us this form https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange to make your address change. You will need your USCIS receipt number (not your embassy/NVC case number) and your old and new addresses.

#2 You probably could have kept your married name. My mom and dad's been divorced for over 15 years and she still uses her married last name on everything. But since things are in your maiden name now (esp your passport and SSN), you should just go with that until you get married. then follow the steps to change your name on your passport: https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/services/correction.html

As well as your SSN: https://faq.ssa.gov/link/portal/34011/34019/Article/3749/How-do-I-change-or-correct-my-name-on-my-Social-Security-number-card
