CAN PERMANENT RESIDENT FLY DOMESTICALLY WITH JUST GREENCARD AS ID?

I'm back!

I just realized I have a new dilemma: Will I be able to fly to SFO from NC with just my greencard to show as an ID at the airport?

I am visiting my sisters in SF in April. However, I do not have a driver's license yet and will be having my passport renewed so I will only have my GC.

Has anybody flown domestically recently and used just their GC with no problem? I also read that the TSA has imposed stricter rules regarding IDs even when flying domestically.

THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S HELP, AS USUAL!!!!

The GC is a government issued photo ID. No problem with using that at airport. you should be fine.

The current restrictions are about the states who haven't implemented the newer and more secure State ID's.

Of course, it is valid ID showing legal status in the USA to boot

Wow, I was just about to ask this question. Just got my GC (w/ conditionals) after 7 months and half. (My question would have been "would I be able to travel w/ a Philippine passport still in my maiden name domestically and show my GC as ID). But the responses have been sufficient. Tnx for the input as usual guys. :)

Don't need your passport to fly domestically or for ID now that your have your green card.

Only need your passport for international travel, then the ticket needs to be in the name in the passport.

Oh, so this means I have to have my passport changed to my married name to travel internationally. I'm guessing this means more waiting and paperwork and red tape. Tnx for the heads up!

Don't have to change your passport, you only need to carry a copy of your marriage certificate when international traveling (in case). Wait and change your passport to your married name as it nears expiration.

If you need to renew your passport and want to change your name, yes it does mean more red tape. There is something called the Report of Marriage that you need to file with the Philippine embassy that has jurisdiction in the state where you got married (you can mail the requirements), which takes around 4-5 weeks. Then you can change you passport to your married name. This is exactly what I'm trying to accomplish right now. It's a bit of a pain, yes :sleepy:

Yeah, I'm doing the ROM first too, and since I'm in Massachusetts, the consular is requiring to submit a NOTARIZED explanation why the marriage was not reported w/n 30 DAYS after the wedding. Philippines = red tape

I have.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
