Hello:

My wife has to remove the conditions on her resident card on July 2. We were planning on starting the process and paperwork for the I-751 and the accompanying documents this week so that we can put it in the mail certified on April 2, 90 days before it is due.

We had a couple questions that we hope you can answer.

We are planning on going to Europe from May 20-31 for vacation. Will we be able to travel still since her card is valid until July 2?

Do we need to get special approval to travel or expiate the process?

Also, her sister is graduating with her PHD in early October in Sweden. Again, will she be able to travel? We were hoping to buy plane tickets ASAP since there were plenty of deals. It sounds like it takes quite a few months to get approval or an extension.

Many thanks in advance for your time and help!

Brian

90 days would actually be April 3rd, https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/dateCalculator.html

Yes, you can still travel. No, you do not need anything since her GC is valid.

However, I would recommend carrying the removal of conditions I797 notice along with you on the trip.

Yes, she should be able to travel because the I797 notice will state that the alien card has been extended one year and travel and work are permitted. As long as she carries this notice with her green card, it should be fine.

I suggest not leaving until biometrics is done. See if you can do a walkin after you get your noa1.
