Hi everyone!

Wanted to ask those who have renewed their Philippine passports at the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC: How long did it take exactly for your new passport to arrive in the mail? I am planning a trip out of the country in July and need to know how much time I have :)

Also, do you have any useful tips/ warnings/ feedback to help me when I go to the embassy to renew? (Are the lines long? What is the best day to go? Are there any specific dress code requirements? How long did it take you to submit everything? DOES THE EMBASSY SELL FILIPINO FOOD??, etc :D )

Thanks guys! Any advice would be much, much appreciated!

Best,

kviking

My wife just had her renewed after the name change and it took about 3 months to get it back. When they say up to 3 months, they really do mean up to 3 months. She handed her old passport in on October 29, 2015 and the passport arrived in the mail around January 15, 2016. the Consulate (at the Embassy) is under construction and you are ask to pick a number. Make sure you have copies of marriage certificate if change of name, exact change, and anything else listed on the Embassy website. Trust me, they ask for those things if needed. They have a copy machine there, so have loose change like .10 per copy. The lines are not long, but the wait is typical for the Philippines. They do the biometrics there so no need for a passport photo. oh and no Filipino food is sold there ;). Hope this helps.

Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.
Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

I would think so. My wife renewed her passport and registered her marriage at the same time at D.C. consulate (Embassy). If the consulate at DC can do it, then Chicago should also.

We tried to do both at an outreach from DC but they refused. Said one had to be done before the other. Coa says they did both. So, again this is the Philippines and you never know what they are going to say or do or expect. So frustrating to deal with such inept government bureaucracy. Marrying a Filipino is like having her family leaving with you when it comes to the Phil government. There always there and you can't do what makes sense.

I know for us, the website still states it is not ready for pick-up and we received the passport in January. We received via FedEx (Self-Pay).

Hate to hijack but I forgot about the ROM. I am now happily married for 2 months woo!!

But anyway to my question, I was looking at the requirements and they ask for a marriage record and a marriage certificate. I have the certificate(the certified one saying that I am legally married from the courthouse with stamps) but what is this marriage record. I've never heard of this.

Thanks!! and again sorry for the hijack! =)

Might as well continue the hijack...

Going to an outreach in Dayton this Saturday for PP renewal and name change. Already sent consulate copies of requested documents, fees and a SASE. Taking originals with us.

I don't know if the SASE was for the outreach confirmation (it wasn't) or for passport return (still don't know).

Would it be best to take a UPS NDA envelope, pre-addressed, for the PP's return instead of relying on the USPS and standard white envelope?

The marriage certificate is enough. That is what we used at the embassy in DC.

Submit the one with the stamp. The woman who handled my ROM in LA actually called back after like an hour after I submitted and said that I just gave her a marriage license and not a certificate. She didn't read the whole thing because if she did, she'll see that the lower portion of the document is the certificate with the seal and signature of the judge. Just sharing.
