Hi everyone!

So I know that it's always good to go by the rule don't make any plans until the visa is in hand. That said I'm trying to make vague plans for later this summer / fall (vacation with the family) and wondering if you can give me some insight. We just received our NOA2 yesterday (yay) and are now waiting for the rest of the process to take place. From what I can tell it takes between between two to three months until their interview date from when they receive their NOA2. Is this a good time estimation of when my fiance will have his visa in hand? Are there things that could severely complicate this timeline at this point? We are going through the London visa embassy if that factors into the timelines. Our NOA2 has a date of March 5, so could I reasonably think that he will have a visa in hand some time between May and June? I do understand that I can in no way guarantee that he could be here then, but I'm just curious as to others experience and if there is anything big that could slow down the the process at this point.

Also we want to plan our wedding celebration for this Fall, and I feel like if he's able to come here in June than I could probably be confident about booking venues for September / October. Is this insane? Should I just wait? Aside from getting the visa denied is there plausibly any reason why he wouldn't be able to be here for these months?

Thanks!

There are a plethora of possible sidetracks, detours and delays that can derail and delay this visa process. Just check out a few of the K1 Visa Process forum pages of thread for a sampling of recent trials and tribulations.

IF, you are bound and determined to make plans and reservations, make sure that they can be rescheduled/changed without penalties/change fees/extra charges, etc.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Your estimate is valid. At this point things that have delayed others in London:

Needing a police certificate from a foreign country.

Having a UK police certificate coming back "no live trace" which means there is a hidden record like a caution. A Subject Access Report would need to be ordered. It takes longer.

Admitting to ever, even once, trying drugs on the medical questionnaire or to the visa clinic.

Having depression issues or any other medical conditions that might delay the medical results being finalized.

Being born (or family in) Middle East, Pakistan, known terrorist areas.

Being Muslim.

Not taking the required documents to the interview.

Having the passport rejected because it expires soon, has a name discrepancy, has been washed/gotten wet, has badly frayed edges or peeling lamination.

A sudden stoppage of visa issuance (last summer) blamed on computer issues. Affected many for weeks.

So to summarize: Just wait.
