AOS Interview, Los Angeles DO

our interview today was suppose to be around 11:35 am. we got there at 11:20 am but we were actually interviewed later at 12:25 pm. the interviewing officer said sorry about the wait, he had to deal with a bad case earlier (he actually spelled out b-a-d-c-a-s-e and my husband and i said out loud..bad case?)

- took an oath, raise right hand

- he asked for each of our docs...Passport, DMV ID's, EAD...etc (if available), our marriage cert. he made copies of these.

- my husband was asked his original BC, to confirm if all the information in the i-485 application is correct...name, address, birthdate...etc.

- my husband was asked all the yes or no legal questions, the officer just checked it off from the i-485 application list

- he asked us how long we've been married and if we are still in love now like we were when we got married (we said YES of course! lol)

- he asked me my salary, employment letter, 2006 W2 or latest paystubs (i gave him both). i only used my 2005 tax return for the original application but it wasn't asked.

- he also asked for our joint documents. we gave him joint health insurance info, life insurance info, citibank info and snail mails sent to both of us. those documents he kept and placed in our file. i gave him our photos and he looked at them (i put together about 20 pics with captions on the bottom.) he returned all the photos.

- after that, we just saw him stamp my husband's file with approved with today's date. he gave us the two letters, one to congratulate him that his AOS has been approved and the other letter about the conditional GC and that to file for removal of condition 90 days before 2 year anniversary.

- we just shook his hand and said thank you and we left.

it was actually a laid back interview. i was more nervous than my husband. i was expecting him to say something about an FBI namecheck.

now all we have to do is wait for his GC and we're done with immigration...at least until dec 12, 2008.

I have a quick question. YOu mentioned that you had an approved stamp in your husbands passport. Is that a I551 stamp? My wife and I will be interviewed on March 20th and were wondering if the I551 stamp is given at the Los Angeles service center.

no, he did not stamp my husband's passport. instead, he put a diagonal slash wrote in my husband's A # using a red pen. the APPROVED stamp was on my husband's files and other paperwork.

we did not ask for the stamp on the passport anymore since my husband already has his EAD and we already receive the two letters including the approval letter on the spot.
